Considering last year we were devastated he couldn't play, I'll say yes. I'm worried what's behind him.

In slow motion Bennett’s hit doesn’t look as bad as it actually was and you wouldn’t think it could cause that much damage. He crossed the line with that forearm shiver because it was the goalie and therefore should get some form of supplemental discipline. Had he kept his arm close to his body and skated through and had not given the little punch to the ear, he would be fine.

He can do it. I am not sure about carry the team like Stolarz seems to be able but if we play well we can overcome this hurdle

Woll is a good goalie, but now Hildeby is the backup and that could be a problem.

I know it won't happen, but in my wildest dreams, Reaves plays in Game 2 but not for long. The second Bennett hits the ice Reaves goes out, there's no talking, no waiting for gloves to drop, he just grabs Bennett and starts pummeling him into next week, if the dirty rat hits his head on the ice and gets a concussion ala George Parros oh well. Reaves gets tossed and a long suspension, Marner and Nylander double shift when needed the rest of the game. We lose Reaves for the playoffs, nobody cares. Bennett has to join Stolarz on the sidelines and eat through a straw just like he deserves.

Pretty sure Florida takes the Stolarz for Bennett trade, that's what pisses me off. No matter what happens Florida comes out ahead in the trade off because they took out our best player.

2- The lorentz-Laughton-Jarnkrok line will need to be better... both 2nd and 3rd goal, they missed their coverage and didn't look good at all an will need to step up

They were awful last night - Laughton in particular, was a bit of a headless chicken in his own zone.

That unit is going to need to be way better, especially if they continue getting one of Florida's tougher matchups

Marner could have had a season ending knee injury.

Quick Hits:

1) Outside of a the huge pushback from Florida for the first 5-8 minutes of the third, we pretty much dog walked them. We got on it early, we built on it, and if not for the Stolarz injury, we might have continued to do so.

2) I don't want to make much of it, he came in cold and put in a real tough spot, Woll didn't look great. I very much worry about him being beat high easily. Having said that, I'm not worried about him starting, he did a lot of good things in the playoffs so far in his career.

3) Damnit they are dirty. From the Bennett crap to Brady's brother going after Marner at the end of the game. They will do anything and the league won't do anything, I don't think.

4) And... we had an edge back. I'm not gonna pretend that the Pacioretty and Domi hits from the side/behind weren't borderline. Easily could've called those as penalties and we got away with them.

5) Big Willie Styles. No more to be said.

6) I know the points didn't come from the rest of the Core Four, but they were all very good last night. Matthews in particular. It's shocking to me he didn't have a point, he was everywhere and led the team in shots. You can tell he's not right with that shot, but he was awesome. That play/pass from Marner to spring Knies was also pretty brilliant.

7) The power play will need to be better. We're not going to get that many opportunities most games.

8) Huge to get the first one. This series is gonna be a battle, but that win and surviving a pretty big push is a big deal. Let's get the second one now.

Yeah, IMO it was the missed slew foot that was dangerous. Marner had good instincts to avoid it.

I think with being up early as a line they focused more on being responsible (which they were) than pressing for offense.

Matthews lack of finish is certainly a cause for concern though. I was really surprised that the empty net miss didn't come back to bite them.
