Some people act like fans don't have a reason to be skeptical after 8 years of similar stories and are acting like this in year 1 of this core people are hating on. The fact people even stick around is good at that point. They've earned the right to skepticism. American fans would have collectively bailed on this team by now. I think part of the reason the Leafs are playing better is because of lower expectations so it's not a bad thing.

Leafs need to figure out the powerplay to win this series though. I hope Stolie is alright. Leafs in 6/7

Barkov, the perennial Selke finalist, had his lunch stolen from him by Matthews.
He needs to play exactly like this every game this series.

Nylander converted on his chances.

The second Bennett hits the ice Reaves goes out, there's no talking, no waiting for gloves to drop, he just grabs Bennett and starts pummeling him into next week, if the dirty rat hits his head on the ice and gets a concussion ala George Parros oh well. Reaves gets tossed and a long suspension, Marner and Nylander double shift when needed the rest of the game. We lose Reaves for the playoffs, nobody cares. Bennett has to join Stolarz on the sidelines and eat through a straw just like he deserves.

Yes but the Leafs aren’t that possession team anymore. They were the same numbers in the first round as well. Until the third we were all over them. We had plenty of chances. Bob made some big (and lucky saves). Game should have been out of reach by the third (and essentially it was) save for a cold goaltender going in to peak playoff action. In the end we added to the lead and while bending, never lost the lead.

This is what panthers do, they cheap shot when they are losing to make hay later in the series. I hope Stolarz is ok. I imagine we will see Woll for at least a week. But now his mind set is of a starter, he gets prepared and he’ll be fine going forward.

Yep we controlled play 5v5 until about the 17 minute mark in the third where Florida started to really push.
The expected goals at that point were Leafs 1.37 vs Panthers 0.83.
This is to be expected considering we were up two goals and have shown we will just go into shutdown, protect mode.

1-It was an amaizing game by Nylander and by far the best he had this post-season, he was everywhere and that's the Nylander i liked to see. He got a lot of pts vs ottawa but i don't think he was 100% engaged but in this one, he was and i want to see that Nylander over and over again because when he's playing like he did tonight, he's as good than an mackinnon.

2- The lorentz-Laughton-Jarnkrok line will need to be better... both 2nd and 3rd goal, they missed their coverage and didn't look good at all an will need to step up

3- Hope Stolarz is not too serious but we got the luxury ro have maybe the best back up in the NHL. It was pretty hard situation to enter in a game like this and need to protect a lead under pressure... and like i said i don't think his team help him especially soon in 3rd but he will need to be ready for gm 2 and hope we get in good version. When he was up, he was probably even better than Stolarz but his down can cost you a game. So i hope he will be in the right side

4- Knies smelling the blood and scoring that 5th goal was also pretty huge...

5-Pacioretty was amaizing tonight with his physical game and set the serie

They are mostly all useless so I use the eye test. Except results like points. Shots. Possession time. Save percentage. Wins lol

The only thing that matters is having a guy behind the bench that can read the body language of his players in real time and who knows who is playing what role and has the best effectiveness against which opponents. They then manage the lines best they can to outplay the opponent.

The GM needs to have a team that can identify the best players that can thrive in the most situations come playoffs. Tre has done a pretty good job and Berube has one major flaw.

He won't split AM and MM even though it routinely does not work well against heavy teams.
