Hey leafs fans, just a quick question from a guy at West.

I don’t watch many Toronto games, I know all about the Marner drama in the off-season, I’m just wondering what’s the perception right now in the city of Toronto with that entire situation?

Also, with his unbelievable start to the season, has there been any new reports that he might sign long-term?

Basically, I just want the scoop on what’s going on with Toronto and Marner lol

Also, what’s everybody’s opinion on what they should do?

Thanks🫡

You’ll get a different answer around here, depending on who you talk to. Likely won’t resign until after the playoffs. I think the only thing close to a general consensus is that this all looks promising but we need to see it in the post season, too. I think the magic number to sign him will be ~13 biggies. There’s also a Mitch Marner thread that’s all over the place, but still worth checking out.

We want a Petey and Hughes for MM and Reilly trade, lol.

Add this to the list of reasons why Marner is better away from matthews

Great win but damn is this PGT dead. 2 pages even if it’s December is crazy, I remember the days of 2 threads for a post game lol

I was at the game.

Great atmosphere in that barn.
Probably 40% Leaf fans.

Mitch’s best game this year.
I thought he and Tavares were strong.
4th line was good.
McMann was decent
Tanev, OEL, McCabe and Benoit were positives.
Woll made 3-4 really good stops

Knies looked off tonight for me.
Domi is NOT a canter - has no what to do in D zone coverage.

Whatever Detroit is paying Kane - it’s too much. Woof. Him and DeBrincat.

Had to watch the recording...

Team is infinitely better with Tanev in the lineup. Woll was good, nice rebound off a game or two where he was average at best.

Seemed like a good effort. Really got the jump on the Wings in the first and kept pushing up to about halfway through the third.

Wings seem to be just drifting about, so not sure what you can take from this other than the effort was good. Real test tomorrow.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have a 42-23-2 record without Auston Matthews all-time.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have a 7-4-0 record without Auston Matthews this season.

Compare that to their record with Matthews
14-8-2 this season
335-177-74 all time.

I don’t think this is even close to
Marners best game this season, he’s having a dominant season.

Even if Marner comes in at $13 million, which is on the higher end of what I’d like, it’s inconceivable to me how the Leafs could allocate $13 million more efficiently given the other free-agent options. Ultimately, that means they’ll bring him back, in my opinion.

I'm part of everybody so I'll chime in. He's obviously the best player on the team right now and I like him a lot. And I'd *still* let him walk for nothing before having another $13M forward. I just don't know how you can make that team makeup work.
