Score doesn’t show the game. Leafs looked great again today. Hopefully that’ll be a reminder that you can never coast.
Btw..Marner smacking his stick for a pass across the Leafs crease with 5 seconds left in the game was idiotic. He just wanted to try to flick it down for an empty netter. He and Brodie are lucky

Dominated, then Sammy let them back in the game. Enjoy the holidays folks.

Team bailed out the goaltending a bit there, but other than that, good game.

Some sloppy defensive plays from Timmins and Benn at the end too.

Holy shit. Should of been a easy W. First almost heart attack in a while.

Still it's a win. Sketchy but I'll take it.

Let Murray run for a couple games. Sammy did make a really nice big stop late too and Matthews with a game saver.

Also .. I really don't like Konecny. His stick snapping at the end was great.

Merry Christmas or happy holidays... whatever floats your boat. Cheers everyone.

About what you expect for a game right before the holidays. In all honesty we played a really good game until Samsonov decided to fall asleep. Mind you it wasn't just him. Kerf and Gio got burnt off of plays that just can't happen at the NHL level to even allow for those chances.

I was really happy with that defensive effort up until those 2 goals against.

I'm not going to be too critical over a W in the last game before Xmas. They got the result, and that is all that matters. Proud of the effort for that reason alone.

Who put eggnog in Samsonov’s water bottle in the 3rd????

Watch the Grinches at DOPS review the Liljegren play and suspend him 2 games…. Bah humbug.

Take the win always.

We've been doing a better job of it this year, but we need to learn when making the simple play is the better move

Like Kampf doing that drop back pass when on the PK with 1 minute left. It worked in this instance and got us a PP, but in reality that is not the right play. Dump it in

Good to win, but I hope this isn't the start of samsonov falling off a cliff
I wouldn't stress. He let in one bad goal, and still made some big saves at the end. Also, considering he was at .935 or something ridiculous like that before Washington game, I think we can cut him some slack that he's not gonna maintain that over a whole season as it's simply asking for a lot. If he even finishes this year with something north of .915 I will be happy.

Too close for comfort, but I’ll take it.

Sammy is not making me smile his last couple games, hopefully the break will do him good. Same with JT.

Happy holidays all!

Took 5 penalties and allowed only 19 shots in the entire game. The kind of game we used to lose and allow 40 shots. A win is a win. But still may have been the most boring game this season.

Also at least this game brings down our PDO a bit. I'm going to be honest that stuff does concern me a bit when it's too high.

Murray seems to project more of the alpha dog vibes compared to Sammy the longer the season goes.
Well, Murray has won two cups and was the Penguins de facto starter from 2016-2019 so he has the experience to fall back on and ride out the highs and lows. Samsonov is 3 years younger and last season was his first year carrying the reigns as an NHL starter, and it seems like Washington was a poor environment for him. I'd say at this point he's still very much developing whereas Murray is a more finished product.
