I didn't have a great feeling about this game after they refused to even try to score on that 5 on 3 PP and it bothers me to a point because this game doesn't go to OT if they don't waste that golden opportunity.

But you still have to give them credit because they found a way again.

It wasn't pretty in fact very few of them have been but they keep finding a way and that's what counts.

Reeves didn't leave his feet, and Nurse had his head down. But full steam and the head was the principal point of contact.

Right call, but he may get away with a small or possibly no suspension. I have no idea what his history is.

You hate to see anyone hurt like that.

If that was Mr X hitting OEL like that the same posters who say it shouldn't be 5 would be screaming for a lifetime suspension plus jail time, if not the death sentence.
Reeves has had 1 suspension for hitting to the head and 2 fines for other violations

The playoff failures of the past half decade are directly related to having a useless head coach who couldn’t make in-game adjustments and insisted on playing a system that’s a proven failure.
It's surprising to me that most people don't realize this is correct. It was always about the coaching. That issue has now been resolved. The difference in coaching quality is significant.

I don't wanna see his name anywhere near a list of goaltenders for Team Canada at the Four Nations thing.

The only reason hes even sniffing some lists is that McDavid carried them to the final last year and that Canada is so thin in goal.

Canada should probably go with vets with big game and international experience in a short tourney like that anyways. (Fleury/Binner/Kuemper, etc..)

Don’t sleep on Aidan Hill if he’s healthy.

Marner is so underrated in the d zone.
He makes so many smart little passes for breakouts and relieving pressure.
Not noticed by a lot of fans.
Right now he’s in the Selke conversation again. His giveaways are also way down this year, his takeaways elite again.

Matthews was blowing all sorts of Marner set-ups early in the season too before they shut him down. Marner is tied for 9th in points in the NHL right now but should probably be in the top 5 based on his play. Add in his defensive game and he's been one of the top forwards in the NHL for sure.

I've always been a keep Marner and Matthews together guy but I really feel Matthews should come back healthy and play with Domi now. Domi's confidence looks completely shot and thats a helluva boat anchor of a contract if he cant figure it out. They had chemistry last season so gotta get him going.

What's really depressing is if the season ended right now, the Leafs would be playing Tampa again. If they managed another win and leapfrogged Florida/NJ, they'd be playing Boston again. I'm not afraid of these teams, it's just that this playoff format is really sucking the life out of the fun of the playoffs. I'd hate to have to watch another series against these teams. Why doesn't the NHL listen? No one likes this format.

Willie looked like he just got back from a road trip to Nepal. While Marner was busting his ass all over the ice.
That's the difference between one player playing for a new contract, and another player that has already secured HUGE new contract with term.

All NHL contracts should be switched to a performance based payment system. If a player takes a too many games off, so does the amount of money they make.

JMHO.

I thought Stolarz was a dime-a-dozen back up before this season. Just like Bobby McMann, I am super happy to eat crow. And Mitch Marner with a mature performance tonight. I love how animated Berube gets, reminds me of that big Irishman Quinn.
You can really tell the players are buying in. Maybe it’s finally maturity, the vets we signed but I think Berube has brought so much needed credibility behind the bench. Players respect him

I have zero interest in seeing Marner and Matthews together once 34 is back.

They can easily drive their own line...question is, can Nylander?
Is this really a question? Nylander drove the whole team the past 2 playoffs, he was by far the best player. Can he drive his own line. Yes

Funny how McMann got a penalty for knocking away an opposing players stick a few games ago but when McDavid does it to Tavares with the net empty in a game tying situation it's crickets.
Exactly, and despite winning the game in OT, it'll still be crickets coming from Shanahan and Treliving about the obvious penalty called against our Leafs and NOT called against Edmonton !!!

NHL refs look to call anything and everything against our Leafs all the while ignoring the same identical infractions against our opponents, especially American based teams.

A penalty should be a penalty no matter the team committing them.

JMHO.
