Not a particularly impressive game tonight, though I thought Samsonov had a solid game. Also, McMann continues to impress me. I think having Marner continue to work on the 2nd line will help him become a bigger threat than he already is. He's a strong straight line skater and he's going to receive a few more of the Marner dishes if he continues to go hard to the net. Great snipe tonight Auston, keep 'er goin' eh.

Given the schedule ( 6 more games); I'd like...

- Matthews to get to 70 goals ASAP and same with Nylander to 100 points
- Keep the offense spread out it creates match up problems for the opposition

And more importantly at least for me. This is how I'd roll the goalies

Next Week
Monday Vs Pens (Samsonov)
Tuesday @ Devils (Woll)
Thursday Vs Devils (Jones)
Saturday Vs RedWings (Woll)

Following week: [ Rest Samsonov. And hopefully by then Matthews and Nylander have got to their respective totals and they can get last couple games off. Meanwhile we can run 11F and 7D to get some extra reps for Edmundson, Timmins, Liljegren* (if he is back). ]

Tuesday @ Florida (Woll)
Wednesday @ Tampa (Jones)

I doubt Jones ever plays another game for this team.

I dunno I think Sammy needs to stay in routine to stay sharp… I’d start him over Jones in that game but otherwise give Woll some games to stay fresh

Leafs are carrying 3 goalies on the roster. Team usually doesn't get a chance like this. We already know Samsonov is the starter. No point risking any injury to him. I'd give Samsonov one more game i.e. against the pens and then ask him to rest up and get ready; unless he is like one of those goalies who wants to keep the rhythym going.

Jankrok is probably going to get a few games as he gets back; so one could rotate players out (Domi, Betuzzi, Tavares, Matthews, Nylander) with Marner, Jankrok, Robertson taking 3 spots every game and you can have Dewar, Holmberg, Kampf play centers

I have a feeling that post dubas era is going to be a goodie and this year is the first step towards something more concrete

Great news

Some tough decisions to make

McMann is now 6th in goals on the team… pretty awesome breakout for him

Knies also up to 14 goals, 34 points… nice rookie season he’s put together
Good to see our development pipeline start kicking in some solid depth options, we haven't produced a ton over the last few years

Given desperation from teams like pens, devils x 2, redwings all fighting for playoff spots; and the dirtbags on florda and tampa; protecting our starter (Samsonov IMO is a given) is important.

Samsonov came back cold from what I recall he was still up with the team practicing didn't really go do a lot of AHL stint when he was dealing with issues. Chances are he can come out and still perform well.

I'd give him the Red Wings game if he still wants to play.

Does Nylander need a break?

Looked kinda cooked tonight
I think it would be wise to give him and Tavares a bit of load management. Not Matthews because he’s going for 70 and not Mitch or Morgan because they have missed enough time.

We can't worry about 70! It won't happen. Let's get ready to rumble!
I don’t care about 70 as long as he breaks Ovy’s cap era record

Knies Domi McMann all scoring, secondary scoring heating up.

This week they are playing against desperate potential wild card teams. They will be tough games.
New Jersey is not a desperate potential wild card team. They are just playing out the string.

Watching the end of the sens devils game from the join in progress

and Tkachuk goes nuts when Hischer put the puck in the empty net after the whistle.

Interesting.....
So when Tkachuk was asked this week on the Spittin' Chiclets podcast about Greig's slapshot into an empty net that sent the Toronto Maple Leafs and their gigantic fan base into a rage spiral, it was no surprise that he got a kick out of it.
I'm not gonna lie to you," Tkachuk said. "I was crying, laughing – until the cross-check happened, and then the wires crossed a little bit. So, you know what? If you know (Greig), and I hope a lot of people get to know him, he's one of the best guys around.

Seemed like a double standard to me. We can do it to other teams, but other teams can't do it to us.

I know it was a bit different as time had expired, but whatever !!!

Good prep for the playoffs because opposition would be dialed in and looking to play 110% especially defensively
