Their most complete game of the season. The overall team defence has been outstanding. Lily and Sandin have really improved to the point they’re both top 4 defencemen. Even Holl has been playing really well. The top 6 scored, the bottom 6 hustled their butts off. And Kallgren, solid and calm in the net.

Pittsburgh's one goal is on me. I apologize.
For a moment I thought Kallgren is getting a shutout.

Solid team effort, props to Kallgren who held the fort down. Be nice if Matty goes on a terror now. And the backups on defence, can’t ask for much more than that. Go Leafs!!!

4th in the league after Broons, Devils, and Knights
We did the same thing last year, but this year we don't have to worry about Covid-19 cancelling all of December and forcing the Leafs to come back off a month's break and start from cold again.

Who would have thought our worst defensive lineup is our best defensive lineup (at least so far)?

Nice to see Matthews score 5 on 5. Hope it continues.
If I can be frank, I haven't been impressed.with Reilly or Brodie in the few games I've watched this year.

The problem.is that Reilly may sometimes feel the need to create due to his role and contract and it takes away from his D. Along the boards he is strong, Brodie is great on the outlet, but they both seem deficient from.past years. Maybe just the games I've seen or my own bias.

Gio brings a serious "do what we need to win" attitude,.which Muzzin and Bogosian (yes, I bring up his name) also brought to this team. It's infectious. In my generation it was Rouse and Lefebvre who brought this approach and it was a very big deal in those Leafs runs.

So, even with the injuries I haven't been as concerned. Now that Dubas picked up Timmins, unless a great opportunity presents itself, I believe their need is some hard nosed Gamers in the bottom six.

I'm not saying I wouldn't try and find a Muzzin replacement if he isn't coming back because the playoffs are a different animal, but simply giving Gio many more minutes when all are healthy would alleviate most potential worries.
