One of my favourite players growing up was Clark Gillies. To this day still maybe the strongest hockey player I have ever seen (and by strongest, I mean actual physical strength). Wendel was cut from a very similar cloth.
Gordie Howe, Tim Horton, Larry Robinson, Clark Gillies, Bobby Hull, Reg Fleming are all guys that live in that neighbourhood.

Lionel Conacher often called "Canadas' greatest athlete" may also could have been Canada's strongest athlete. He has a Grey Cup 2 SCs ILPro Baseball championship, Canada Amateur light heavyweight boxing championship, Ontario lightweight wrestling champ, Memorial Cup. On Mens Lacrosse Championship

When he was a NY Ranger he fought Jack Dempsey the worlds current heavyweight champ. At that time it was rumored that Conacher knocked Dempsey down and lost a split decision over 4 rounds. For some reason Wiki says Dempsey knocked him out.

I miss cherry hoccey night in Canada just isn’t the same no matter who they bring on or what they do

It is so Melba toast right now there is no reason why I would have any inclination to watch intermissions. MacLean's stupid puns, for the love of god stop trying to sound witty, so annoying. Listening to MacLean and his 15 minutes of cheesy puns is how I picture most women's first date experiences are, guys ego's trying to sound bigger than they are.... dont know how you women do it TBH.

Guys tap dancing around that lady's rarely correct opinion on hockey, just so they don't sound sexist. Remember when Biekesia had the audacity to actually challenger her, he was tar and feathered for challenging the omnipotent female opinion. How could he be so mean, so aggressive, so correct... the gall!!! Yes she played on the national team and yes you could go to almost any male beer league in Canada and find 3 teams that would have kicked those female Olympic gold medal teams arses. She is no more an expert on hockey than my next door neighbour, why is she there again? It's just a salad of annoyance.

Wendel!!!!!! They guy is a beast. Growing up he was my hockey hero. I could never figure out why his punches were so lethal, then a few years ago I saw a picture of him and a bunch of his buddies on a boat fishing, he had his shirt off, the guys torso//back is the size of two houses side by side, he is freakishly big. No wonder why his punches are so hard, he is built like a Silverback Gorilla.

I consider myself a HFLeafs guy because I've posted here for a long time. The folks you're talking are called LeaFlanders who reside in a magical place called LeaFland. They observe hockey and have decided that the Maple Leafs are the team for them.

While they may not get a lot of what they might be seeing, it does make them feel like they are a part of something bigger. Narratives are the fuel that powers and sustains LeaFland and so they choose good. guys and bad guys. The reasons for those choices are logical sometime but most often the twists and turns of the reasoning creates headaches in even the most patient of us.
oh brother...
