Post-Game Talk: Leafs win 4:0 , Division Champions

I was thinking it was him signaling he has had enough of losing in Buffalo. They have been playing better lately, but they are simply terrible.
I can't knock him for the passion, it's just that it always seems to be reserved for us

can't get over Dahlin breaking his stick on the crossbar after the Matthews empty netter. any game against the Leafs really is their stanley cup.
I don't think that's it. Dahlin has done that a couple of times this season. I think he is probably just fed up with the situation in Buffalo. I wouldn't be surprised if they move him in the off-season for a forward. Whatever Buffalo does, it will be the wrong thing.

I want nothing but positivity now going into the playoffs. #1 seed in the Atlantic. Home ice locked in for rounds 1 and 2. 8-1-1 in the last 10, 4 game winning streak.

The game against detroit is about as important as a pre-season game now. It doesn't matter on the Leafs' side. Just don't get hurt. Play the 3rd pair and the bottom 6 crazy minutes and let Woll stay sharp.

The boys are winning round 1 against Ottawa, for sure! It's happening! I believe!

The division is ours! Definitely easier to do than past years, but still impressive. We've had a nice run here to end the season.

I'm glad Marner and Matthews hit their milestones, and nice to see Stolarz hot going into the playoffs. If he can keep up his play, that would be massive.

Battle of Ontario will be interesting. At least it's something different.

While Buffalo could wait until July 1st to attempt to sign him, a sign and trade deal for Marner would be interesting in advance. Why they might consider? They don't have to compete against other teams to get him. Sure, it's unlikely, but I'd love to grab Dahlin, move Rielly....

Swap Rielly to Detroit for Kasper???

Sure, probably not realistic, but they'd be solid moves for us.

Great win.
Good to see Mitch and Matthews hit those milestones.
Thought this was Laughtons best game so far and he's played better as of late.
Third line was good, especially liked Robertsons game tonight.
Stolarz was awesome.

We've won 8 of our last 9 games and only given up 12 goals against in that span

On TSN weekly rankings that probably puts them about 6th. best in the league ...

You are assuming that the Leafs won't simply cave to whatever Marner's demands are, but I'm pretty sure that is exactly what is going to happen. Meanwhile, Buffalo will trade Dahlin for EP and will lose that deal as well.

but if that was the case why would they be tanking to get into the wildcard? none of it adds up to them wanting to tank to get the leafs.
Because it became evident Tampa couldn’t catch Toronto so they had to go for the wildcard.

when the panthers beat toronto, tampa was 2 points behind the leafs with a much easier schedule over the final 5 games and TB could have taken over 1st place with a win vs the leafs the following night(with the leafs being the team on the b2b) AND having a game they could have gifted the lightning still. would have been easy for them to influence the race by rolling over to toronto and seriously helping the leafs win the division. that didnt happen, just as FLA tanking to try to get us in the 1st rnd didnt happen. people are paranoid, holy.

edit: just to be clear im not saying they didnt try to get us over the final 5 or so games, but tanking to try and get us just didnt happen.

Who’s paranoid, you choose to believe what you like, we can never prove it one way or the other. If you read the Panthers thread, their fans had no interest in winning. They even posted a fake lineup of nobodies in their (Tampa GDT)thread, bringing joy to many there.

cool, when do posters in HF forums have any say in the outcome of professional hockey games? NO pro team in a position to make the playoffs would do that, ever.

So we are going to do our best against Detroit, we’ll see. Maybe you are correct

Depends on 2 things:

1 - how he performs in the playoffs
2 - his contract demands

He said he's treated like a god in Toronto, if to you that sounds like he's not happy here then I don't know what to tell ya.
You dislike him.

I love him. That was last year he said that. He will likely move on and we will get nothing back for him and it is people like you who are to blame. He is the highest leaf in playoffs point yet is treated like garbage and all the blame on him.
So sad.

The very idea that Marner would make life decisions for him and his family based on what "people like me" post on the internet is one of the dumbest things I've ever read here, and I very much doubt that Marner is that much of a snowflake.

I don't know the man, I've never disliked any of our players and I don't dislike Marner, that's a completely ridiculous thing for you to say and he was even my favorite player for a few years. You love him, good for you. I think that's a bit weird but to each his own. It does explain why you're not capable of discussing him objectively and why you're acting like you're his mother. To me, he's just a hockey player, not someone to love or hate or worship.

The more games we win in the playoffs, the more likely it is that he stays. He's too young to truly know what Toronto is like when the team makes some noise in the playoffs and if we manage to win two rounds (which IMO is entirely possible), the atmosphere around here will be such that he won't even consider playing anywhere else as long as the Leafs will have him. JMHO.

Also - so what that he said it last year. If he felt like he's treated like a god last year, you think now he feels like he's not treated well after the season he's had? You're not making any sense.

Unfortunately, Mitch is Gen Z, and Gen Z is extremely succeptible to losers and morons hurling abuse at them online.
