Nice win again. Had to watch the opponents feed... Wow is all I can say to that. Though sounds like both broadcasts were stuffed with Flamers.

Really like what I am seeing... Solid defensive okay all over the ice.

Refs were blatantly bad in this one. That nom call on Nylander was atrocious.

Chances Kaychuck drops the most on Tuesday?

Oil fan passing by.
That Ratchuk play was dirty AF, hopefully Cambell is Ok.

Soon everyone on North Division have had enough of that POS. What happens then is intresting.

Justin Orr

all jokes aside he has been so solid. I am eating crow for sure
His problem was always his IQ. Have to give credit to the coaching staff for correcting his bad choices. He always showed physical ability. I have to admit that I was very skeptical too. What Holl has shown is the ability to take instruction...a really valuable commodity. If they can now adjust Rielly a bit, the team is solid. I suspect that the biggest problem were the tactics coached last year. They were hail maryish and certainly not optimal with competent defending support. Given a bit of time, I am sure that the lulls exhibited at the end of the second will be avoided.

lets be honest here .... the leafs didnt have a great game they were extremly lucky ... a bunch of ping pong goals went in.

they need to desperately raise their 5v5 game
The other way to look at is:
1) too many times in the past it was the opposite, we outplayed the other team but came up empty
2) our backup played great and was probably the main reason we won
3) similar to 1), we got the lucky breaks - goals going in off of skates
4) Calgary was well rested, but we got the two points

Happy with the win but all our goals came off lucky bounces with Calgary scoring 2 out of our 3 goals , lol .

we need to pick it up 5 on 5 and hopefully Mathews gets healthy real soon because if this is a long term issue it’s going to be very tuff sledding moving forward

You cannot stop my Leafs appreciation this season.

I like this team and the results. We have better defense and depth. There's a lot more personality and the commitment seems to be there. Special teams are really good. I know they could improve on 5v5 and other areas.

I can get behind this team with these personalities.

Feels good man...

Sometimes you have to be lucky to be good and Leafs got some good bounces in this game to come out on top.

Campbell saved them from a worse fate.
Yes that's how i saw it too ... Soup saved our butts ... good game but Flames had slight edge in play ... we got da bounces in this one ... Flames are better than I thought ... thought Canucks would beat them out but it was wrong ... Leafs Habs Jets and Flames look to be 4 playoff teams unless major injuries occur ... I still think Bo will carry Canucks more but it does not look like it will be enough to overtake da flames

Appealing game from both teams and both keepers were good.

I think Toronto had the more dangerous chances but might just be my bias creeping in. All in all, an even game from two of the divisions better teams.

Getting pucks to the slot with traffic in front are called high danger chances and gritty mucker gudpro goals, not lucky bounce goals.

The key is traffic. We didn't have that against Columbus, but I'm glad we've made the adjustments.

Maybe a little bit of both, but excellent point.

On one hand, if a guy makes a routine 5 foot pass and ends up getting an assist because the puck is thrown at the net and deflects a couple of times and bounces off an opponents skate into the net it's a pretty cheap (and lucky) way to get a point added to your stats (never mind a goal).

From a team perspective though, not all goals are going to make the year end highlight reel and you gotta score your share of ugly goals to win your share of games. So while a goal may be "fluky" to a degree, when the puck is in the O-zone then the only team that might score a fluky goal is us or to put it another way, in order to get lucky you first have to put yourself in a position where you might get lucky.

Ain't it funny how the more time you spend in the O-zone with more people/pucks in front of the opponents net, the luckier you get. :)

Id imagine the highest probability shot is an empty netter. Hate to quibble :sarcasm:

To those being critical of our performance, keep in mind that we have had arguably the toughest schedule in the league so far, and Calgary had a huge advantage with a week off prior to the game.

That being said, I thought it was still a fairly even game in terms of high danger scoring opportunities, which is a credit to our players.

Keefe has done an excellent job instilling a defence first mentality with this group, which is critical to our success. We have more than enough offense, and that will eventually come around. What's more important is our players developing the right habits early in the season so it can carry over into the playoffs.

I get that this wasn't anywhere near the Leafs best game, but this idea that Calgary "dominated" or was way better is ridiculous.

Great to see us play some solid defence and goaltending that doesn’t crush the soul. I thought Mikhayev had a great game. Bogosian, Holl, and Muzzin had strong games. Now let’s get Boyd in there
Definitely. Work to do defensively but there is a noticeable improvement right now.

Decent game and Campbell was pretty solid. We can improve still (which is good), but I like that we trending and tracking at the top of the North Division standings. This should be our year I feel with the way things have aligned.
