San Jose made things difficult for us but we were missing that spark which sometimes happens in the first game back after a long road trip, particularly when you’re playing one of the worst teams in the league. Once again, our goaltending was outstanding and allowed us to come out of the game with two points.

Both goalies kept the game respectable.

Leafs couldn't finish many excellent set-ups.

Sharks could have had 3-4 breakaway goals, and Leafs could have had about 6 from the slot on nice passes.

So happy to see Marner tie the record.

He needs something of his own, something where he isn’t competing with Matthews to be our #1. We need him to understand and lean into the fact that he’s already a Leafs legend and that he doesn’t have to chase it any more. When he gets distracted by the legacy, he flounders. When he is confident and cocky, he’s unstoppable.

Yeah I wrote paragraphs about why we should trade him. Still screamed when he scored that empty netter. Love this guy, huge W.

We all have probably at some point about Matthews, JT and Nylander. LOL ( We all know it! ) We are Leaf fans.

THATS WHY WE LOVE THIS TEAM!!!

congrats mitch, impressive achievement

samsonov did not miss a beat. who goes in net next game?

relatively boring game, but what kenya do.
It feels so weird now that this is a question. Ever since I’ve been a fan, it’s either Andersen, Campbell, even David freaking Rittich for a short span who make you feel safe and the backup feels like an auto loss

Having 2 goalies who are good enough, where you can’t actually tell who’s the back-up is something I never expected going into this season

I’d go back to Murray simply because he got taken out even though he won because we wanted Samsonov to get a game in, so he should have a chance at the net before Samsonov

It's definitely a good problem to have. No B2Bs coming up either, so will be interesting to see how it shakes out. Wouldn't surprise me if they just rotate until someone falters.

One thing I really am concerned about especially with better teams
Hits
49-18
Yuk
Not good
Somehow we need to come to terms with this and finally correct this for the playoffs
It will be death again

IIRC offensive zone possession time was 30 mins to 20 for us halfway through the third, most of San Jose's offense was on turnover rush chances where they're not going to be taking much hits. They didn't really cycle us much which is where you rack up the hit counter.

People told Dubas to find a number one goalie.
Dubas said f*** you and found two.

LETSSSS GOOOOO

in all seriousness gotta love how we're rolling right now. Big props to 16 who's been leading us.

Let's keep chugging. glg.

Undefeated with the Borje patch, good thing Maple Leafs management decided tonight was the final game with it

Guess we are going on a losing streak now :(

Why not keep it till the end of the season? What’s the rationale behind this decision?

I think I heard Joe Bowen say that they are keeping it for the season

Good points , but still a very wide margin and very similar to many games this year and in the past .. I don’t expect us to be the leader in this category game in and game out, but a bit closer and more jam would be beneficial in the playoffs

Hollowell has surprised me and is somehow surviving. He's been serviceable for a guy who i've never been impressed with in the AHL.

Not sure how long he can keep this up but he's shown he can be an emergency fill-in, which is a win for a late round pick.
