It's no secret I hate Erik Kallgren and 1 game doesn't change that but he was rock solid tonight.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about him going forward because I assure You I am.

But tonight he was rock solid.

Now I get to watch the walking dead in the best possible mood after the team swept a back to back

Missed the game due to work, the only time I got a chance to check the score was the 2nd period and the score was 1:0 with Leafs having only 5 shots.
The next thing you know, 3:1 for the boys.

Anyone pls provide an in-depth review would be great, thanks.

  • 1st half of the game Leafs sleeping
  • latter part of 2nd period line changes
    • Kerfoot-Matthews-Nylander have a beastly shift
    • followed by Bunting-Engvall-Jankrok (GOAL)
    • Period comes to an end
  • 3rd period
    • pretty even-steven
    • Robertson makes a pass to marner to JT (GOAL)
    • Canes press hard
      • Kallgren up to the challenge makes some really solid saves
    • Leafs dead tired after an icing, matthews wins the board battle flicks the puck out, Nylander turns-on the after burners scores (GOAL)
  • Leafs win 3-1

Walking dead is still on? I was a huge fans of the comics and grew out of it. Wasn’t really hook on the TV series but it was good for a while.

Big deal win on a b2b.
I suggest some posters stop taking shots at top players beyond fair comments for bad game play until they play at least 6 minutes in a game. It just ends up making you look stupid

I really liked the perseverance tonight. The Canes played absolutely smothering defence in the 1st. The Leafs easily could've tried to force things, resulting in a few giveaways, and a multiple goal deficit. Instead they waited the Canes out, found their legs in the late 2nd and 3rd and managed to win a big one against arguably the best team in the East.

The fourth line was, obviously, a big part of that. ZAR-Kampf-Malgin continuing to play like this would be huge for this team. We haven't had a good 4th line throughout our competitive window. Unfortunately the 3rd line is still a problem. I still think some kind of trade is going to be needed to address that, although maybe someone like Steeves can step in later in the year.

Finally, it is mystifying how this team can humiliate itself against the awful Sharks and Ducks and then win two games in 24H against the two top teams in the East with Kallgren in net. Leafs gonna Leaf, I guess.

That was the highlight of the game for me. The broadcast said it perfectly - Nylander had been on the ice for over a minute, he had no business going after that puck, could have just chipped it in and went to the bench but instead ... I still don't know how he won that battle and scored, the guy is crazy good!

I think the early struggles were because they were fat and out of shape. We'll be ok now.

Very gutsy road win after a gutsy home win, especially with the goalie issue in flux over the past 4 periods. I don't know how they dig deep like this when there's so much adversity, yet the easy ones are anything but that. Oh well, onto the next one.
