First game of preseason. Great to hockey even if it’s messy.

Our 3rd pairing on D with a bunch of Marlies. Still, Krall impresses me.

Nylander looks great. Marner looks like Marner.
Malgin could have a few, and he looks good until he’s engaged physically.
Love Holmberg.
Gaudette looked frantic, maybe nerves.

Not a good period for the following:

Most of Toronto's D
Malgin

Gaud Awful:

Gaudette

Good:

Nylander
Gio
Marner

Average:

Tavares ' skating
Simmonds

Coaching:

Poor

I didn't think Giordano looked all that great. Curious how you've come to your judgment on coaching in 1 period of the first game of the pre-season?

Other than Holl being completely out of position on that goal, I think we have been in control for the most part.

Malgin looks like he should be in the NHL. Someone like him in our bottom 6 will go a long way.

The ability is clearly massive between him and his linemates. I think he is a 4th line guy at best for us. We need Robertson to show something
That said, I think the spot that Robertson is starting out in tonight, is perfect for him. (Robertson-Kerfoot-Aube-Kubel). Defensively responsible linemates that he can learn off of. A speedy playmaking guy in Kerfoot, Robertson is the shot threat, and Aube-Kubel is the hard-nosed winger to do the crashing and banging and be a little bit of a body guard for little guys Kerfoot & Robertson lol excited to see that line in the 7pm game.
All that said, Gaudette didn't look awful...but I would like to see an audition there with Engvall (when healthy) Jarnkrok, and Anderson...assuming LW isn't a super hard adjustment for Jarnkrok or Anderson

So been just wondering if the Leafs lead the league in hyphenated names?

There's never before been this many of this type of name form. Is this the result of the advent of blended families?
