They gave to win at least two of the games against their peers Van, Det, Minny, Pitt and there should be no excuse for not beating Vancouver tonight. That may have been the worst period I’ve seen a team play this year.

I'm denying that the possiblity of a fight presents a significant psychological and physical price to NHL players in this era, or enough of a price to deter them from making clean hits.

It’s not ‘a fight’ it’s a promise that there will be more and more often. It’s a test of will. It’s a challenge and an answer.

You don’t know anything about what you’re trying to say here. And I don’t mean that disrespectfully at all. I can admit when I’m ignorant, you should be able to as well. We are all adults here (presumably).

If you’ve ever read the novel ‘Enders game’ there is a scene in there where the kid (Ender) kills another kid in the shower who was bullying him.

When the authorities ask him why he didn’t stoop kicking him, ender says ‘I wasn’t trying to win this fight. I was trying to win all the future fights too.”

The point being that once he did that, he just won every hypothetical future fight with the kids who were picking on him. Because now those fights won’t ever happen.

I’m sure I can keep giving anecdotes for you that you’ll have trouble understanding or making the connections with, and I’m not going to keep trying.

But I have no issue saying that I’m right and you don’t know much about how this works.

I’ll leave you with one more, the leafs sens playoff series in the early 2000’s. Sens beat the leafs in the regular season all the time, probably as talented or more talented than Toronto was. But Toronto threw them off their game, made them change how they played, neutered their skill by beating them up physically and intimidating them.

This is just how humans work.

It's sad people truly believe other players not named Reaves played soft because Reaves was allowed to play.

The most reasonable explanation for whats occurring today is they respect Reaves and take some responsibility for how soft they were playing after seeing him getting punished via benching.

I think it has more to do with getting called out by the coaches, management, the media, and current anf former players.

This is the connection my brain came to as well.

I’m sure there’s a correlation here, but it’s not the one people are saying it is.

This feels different

I wonder how Reaves felt about the Giorano fight. I lost some respect for Reaves when the Marchand hit went down, ill say that.

Exactly 3 weeks from tonight is when we have home ice against Boston. He said he couldn't do anything about it because they had last change. Dec 2 will be the night I decide whether I appreciate him on the team or not.

Couldn't agree more. I love subtlety. Nothing's worse than a comedian explaining their jokes or an author explaining their allegory.
Craig Simpson is just bland and unremarkable not terrible but not good in any way after all the years he’s been employed I don’t remember him saying anything funny or insightfu, blah

Maybe it’s not even reaves, maybe McCabe drops Marchand and reaves backs him up by dropping lucic?

Yeah, no argument, I was giving my love for Jim Ralph. He's the perfect colour man. Talks when needed. Has interesting comments. Shuts up otherwise. That's the job. Some of these guys just don't get it. You're the gravy. The play-by-play guy is the meat and potatoes.

My genuine hope is Reaves takes the suspension by throwing at Marchand before the puck drops so he doesn't have time to turtle. I'd take that for the team if it was me in his position for what he did to Lilly (which was dirty af BTW and I'm not interested in other opinions - he knew exactly what he was doing).

Oh I would love that so much.

And the rest of the team just escalating every time Boston tries to respond. Until Boston just gives up trying
