Series Talk: Leafs vs Lightning Pre-Playoff Thread

If the Leafs are going to finally exorcise their demons, then I don’t think this will be a seven game series. I have a gut feeling the boys are going to win this in five!

Bringing that killer instinct; that will to win and finish off their opponent, is what will bring them glory… at long last!

Getting waaaaay ahead of myself, but can you imagine the documentary that would be made if we went through both of those teams on our way to winning the Cup?!?

If/when we beat Tampa, I’m honestly hoping we face Boston in the second round. Sure, it would be sweet if the Bruins got bounced in the first round, but if we end up winning it all, I would love for the Leafs to have beaten Boston on the way.

Would be more special and meaningful to beat Boston but I'd much prefer Florida haha

Yeah I think the lesson they should be learning is not to end up in the Game 7 situation, but rewind to last year and remember all the moments they could have run away with it. If they had brought the A game in Game 2 at home and bring it in Game 4 when you're feeling good after a road win. You need to weather a push back from the other team. Don't let up. Don't let them back in.

I hope so. If it goes to 7 it's an auto loss. Close em out in 5 at home.
 
My confidence in this series continues to grow by the day. This Leafs lineup looks solid and has seen a major improvement in the bottom 6 over the past years.

Maybe it doesn't mean a whole lot, but to me, Tampa's attempt to turn the game via the old bully strategy failed miserably and will continue to fail with this team. Also, Knies is absolutely making the team. His board play and ability to drive the net won't be overlooked. We finally have our Hyman replacement.

Why are there so many Negative Nancy's and Debbie Downer's to begin with anyway? Could it have something to do with all the losing? Maybe people are getting sick and tired of paying thousands of dollars for playoffs tickets only to watch their favourite team choke every year?

Winning would change all that now wouldn't it?

So just win something for once. It's not that hard to do. Over half the teams in the league have won a playoffs series in the last six years.

The Leafs aren't one of them.

Boy wouldn't winning put a lot of people in their places. If this team advanced past the second round all the comments about accountability and heads rolling would come to an end. I know I would be more than happy to eat every word I've written for the past five years.

I'm getting hungry waiting so long to do so.

If the team wants to shut up all the Negative Nancy's and Debbie Downer's they need to win something. Otherwise if they flop again the fans can't let them off the hook. They need to be up managements butts.

Just have to find room beside their heads first is all.

3 goals in 5 games is good for JT.
Willy 8 points in 9 games is good, he's the closest to ppg.
Matthews could do better, but not bad

But Mitch with 0 goals and 3 assists in 9 games is just bad.

Mitch Marner has to pick up the pace in series winning games.

I'm glad I'll be home before gm3.

This team needs me outa the country for games 1 and 2. Atleast that's what my crazy superstition is trying to tell me.

Anyone else have pregame rituals? Or ones they remembered from last playoffs they won't be doing again?

I would tend to agree that if the leafs do win the series it will be before game 7. I dont like the leafs chances if this gets to game 7 again.

Our record in games when leading a series is terrible. Needs to change if you want to end a series early and you have aspirations of making a deep run.
