Robertson should not make the team

He's being force fed prime opportunities and doing absolutely nothing with it

He's playing really well. Sometimes it doesn't go in but he's making a ton of plays. Even on a line with Kampf and Reaves 5 on 5 he's had a good couple chances.

Just because plays don't result in goals and assists it doesn't mean he's not earning his spot. That's crazy. Plays will go in eventually, it's all about the process.

It’s pretty obvious that Robertson will start the season on the Marlies, but it’s not due to poor play.

He can be sent down without waivers, and our Top 6 is stacked. Playing him 4th line minutes doesn’t move his development along.

He’d be better served top minutes on the Marlies, playing on the power play and polishing his game.

Injuries will be inevitable and he will be one of the first to be called up.

This is a defining season for Robertson. He lost a prime opportunity to carve his place into the lineup last season, when we really desperately needed him to.

This is his season to stay healthy and show he has a place on our roster, sooner rather than never.

Pretty much exactly this. Let the kid go play big minutes in the AHL. The Leafs really don't need his offense at this point.

Robertson goes to the net and gets a good tip there. They aren’t going in and he hasn’t been making any flashy plays but he’s getting some chances. Eventually something will go in for him.

Jesus, Minten is already better than Kerfoot….

Can I please hear from the lunatic fringe on the boards that insisted we trade Knies among other assets for Kane at the TDL, starting with Kypreos?

The kid is just going to be something we haven’t had in almost forever. He’s who I’m most pumped to watch this season.

Minten plays like such a natural center. 6’2” ish; defensively conscientious and giving the D calm and close support. Makes nifty area plays and distributes the puck with vision. Probably grew up watching a bunch of Bergeron YouTube videos.

Knies, Cowan, Minten and hopefully Robertson still is a pretty good mixer pack for a youth injection over the next 2-3 years. There are others as well but this crop seems to have some Top 6 upside.
Knies is definitely a top 6 guy, and I think probably ultimately a 30 goal scorer with the ability to create space for his linemates. Not so sure of the others. I don't think you can take too much from pre-season hockey.
