GDT: Leafs vs Ducks

Personally I would have switched Marner and Kerfoot, but I guess this just shows you the pecking order in terms of who can drive play. Matthews, Marner, Nylander and JT is the 4th.

The big stories for me will be if Marner can give JT the jolt he needs to get back on track and if Nylander can continue to drive a line being the main focal point. Offense might take a hit with Kampf but that's to be seen.

Kerfoot and Nylander seem to have great chemistry together.

I don't see it that way at all. We're just trying to win games and get ready for the playoffs, that's the beginning and the end of it.

Even during a normal season, we've talked at length about things like Kadri's diet, nothing unusual here at all.

I mean I understand the need to try something new, but we all know Kampf-Nylander won't be a thing, so it's "purposeless".

Demoting Nylanders usage to promote the greater good has never worked. In fact it cost us a playoff series already.

ye i think the other 2 lines are likely to play slightly less rather than nylander getting his minutes cut more.
also i always remember him being very very good when was centering his own line(granted it was just a handful of games) under babcock, played a much more north south game then what he typically did back then.
 
tbh i think its about having pairs of skilled players on each line with each line having a more hyman "type" player that can go get pucks down low, i like these lines because i believe all are capable of playing different styles depending on the type of team we are facing. only one im unsure about is soup. hes played exceptional out of the top 6 and has never really impressed me further up the lineup, but maybe this time he can get it going.

Auston gets 33% of ES ice time and Marner gets 30%. Even if there's a reduction it won't be too far from that.

Usage wise it will be a significant change for Nylander. A stupid change in my opinion but that's irrelevant because it won't last long. Kampf is not an asset that allows you to run 3 lines evenly when names like matthews and marner are involved. That makes the team worse. I don't see why anyone would want to run those 3 lines evenly. Get Nylander back up there.

*When I say ES I actually mean 5v5

It's good to try things out, you never know what might end up surprising you in a good way. It's just one game in January, actually so far it's just one practice so no need to get worked up over this at all.

Nylander with some of our gangstas like simmonds and kämph etc will probably not score so many gezoals sire. Nylander might bank one in for himself, and on the pp with our other souljas, but wait and see what this does to kase sire... again. Kase banked all those points in HARD before his covid or injury dirt. Kase really flying out thurr like mariach carey etc... them singas, they flying high you know what I mean sire.

Yeah I'm more just glancing over the logistics here if it did in fact become a thing. I can't justify that Nylander isn't being screwed in some way here. I love Kampf I hope he's a Leaf for a long time, I just don't see a line with Kampf on it maximizing Nylanders skillset.

Matthews will be fine on his line and will be given the most 5v5 minutes. JT/Marner is a superstar duo so no need discussing them. Their usage is guaranteed to be a non-issue. They can potentially push for most 5v5 minutes as well.

Kampf isn't going to put up points no matter how much Nylander drives that line and Kerfoot barely scores goals. This is his best season as a Leaf and he's on pace for 13 goals. It will take an even bigger dip if Kampf is his center. My issue is I don't see Keefe's vision here, it's a purposeless line. There's nothing wrong with our Kampf/Kase duo and we're a better team when Nylander is pacing 30+ goals and 70+ points with the big boys.

I'm bout that sire :clap: And we is so hard rihgt now so we ain't forgetting how high our team flies right now... like that's HIGH. Like in the wind. We is scescoring so many GEZOALS like we ain't even seen in ages... lik this is some oracle dirt right here. I'm expecting 4-5 goals from our rear ends agains the desucks wednesday. For surely sire.
 
Like the lines, would be interesting to see Spezza/Engvall spot into that 3rd line for some extra minutes.
 
I actually like this idea because we're do through a stretch of 8 games in about 16 days. When that time comes, I'd much rather be able to role 3 lines for about 16-17 minutes per night, and not burn anyone out. I'd like to go 5-3, or better, in that stretch of games and I think you have to have 3 scoring lines to do that, without your guys losing their legs.
