A really silly mistake to not recognize how much time was left on the PP. You can hear everyone yelling from the bench, so not sure why they ignored it

There's a lot of luck in hockey. We got tonnes of terrific chances to make it 4-1 on that PP, including hitting a post. Instead don't quite convert, and the Ducks get perfect timing on winning the puck right when Silfverberg is popping out of the box. Then a great shot by him against gassed defenders (though that's less luck, Silf is a great shooter).

You can blame Keefe's tactics, the stars were gassed after that very extended PP time and didn't have the energy to back check hard enough, but it also almost worked to make it a 4-1 game. It was a bit of a gamble, happened to work out poorly, but almost worked out well - that's the luck component.

We deserve to be up more than 3-2, but oh well, it's still a lead going into the 3rd. Keep up the dominant play and we'll likely win.

What bugs me about tonight is their mid tempo game. Everything from shot clock to zone time to puck possession to eye test looks great except the pace of the game. One of those trends that’s bugging me is if the other team decided to start hitting and trading chances it leaves a back door for them to climb back in it.

I thought they played most of the second with a lot of pace. It got slowed down because of the extended power play, prior to that it felt like Toronto was playing a heavy forecheck and moving the puck around lots.

Like I say, when the Leafs are up they really need to up the tempo, make a few hits on their defensemen to the end wall and make it not worth their while to climb back in.

Sorry I don't see what you are saying. They are playing their ass off, playing with tempo. They aren't hitting or anything because they always have the puck, there isn't any room for battles.

Maybe you just have Leaf PTSD and are waiting for them to lose this game somehow? *shrug*

I mean....they just walked in and took a shot straight on. The fact it was a 3 on 1 is pretty irrelevant. There was no deception or play made. Beaten clean off the shot because he went down to early.
