I can promise that the outcome of this game will have absoluely no predictive value for the playoffs. The Leafs could win 9-1 or lose 10-0, and both results would be meaningless when it comes to predicting playoff outcomes.
Okay Mr.Analytics, I meant for them to show ME something. Instead of the obvious loss on a back to back against a bottom feeder, give ME something to be excited about.

We're fans first Mr.IAmRobot. hence posting in a hockey forum, but you go compute whatever it takes for them to win the cup and get back to me alright?

I predict you have no friends, and no value, but who cares, I'm a stranger on the internet.

Anyways, hopefully the boys get a W tonight and they can keep that momentum alive to the playoffs. Walk in all confident and shiiiii

Feels like this is one of those "just find a way to win" games. Make it ugly, slow, whatever you have to, but get the two points.
Far too many back-to-backs. Thankfully the 4 Nations was a marketing success for the NHL but it really does wear down teams.

At least it will make the playoffs for the Leafs seem a little less taxing since they will have days off in between games.

What obvious loss? What is the Leafs record on the second game of back to backs this season?

I don’t know why you switch goalies again. Need to see who should be playing in the playoffs. What is this coach doing. We still don’t even know who should be starting.

Not to mention we play the Panthers next (who will be on the 2nd night of a B2B). Win tonight and win that game and we basically win the division
The only challenge to the Leafs is Tampa, but they have 5 road games left and they are a sub-.500 road team. Like I've been saying for a while, it will be the Battle of Ontario in the first round.

Have to get at least 1 point.

I think we all would have been happy with 5 out of 6 points before they left, but 5 out of 6 would be a huge trip.

GLG

I'm usually fine with .500 on a road trip. I was really hoping to get 4 points, given the quality of the teams they're playing. I think anything less than 1 point would be a disappointment (but not a disaster).

Toronto has a big win last night, Panthers lose today. So a huge opportunity is there for the taking ...

So this being the Leafs they'll come out flat and blow this one. Here's hoping that for once in just about forever these guys show some urgency, get the 2 points and come home with all the momentum heading into the critical Wednesday game.

@Evilhomer in your opinion would a battle of Ontario be a good or bad thing for the Leafs?

End of the day they have the chance to change the narrative right now. They have never been able to win big games with any consistency. Going on a little streak and beating the Ducks and Panthers this week and winning the division is a huge step towards that.

They absolutely are the better team than the Senators. Whoever comes out of the Panthers - Tampa series is going to be missing at least 1 big piece. They will kill each other.

Super important to win tonight

Yep. Florida losing made it all the more important. With the hypothetical playoffs with the Leafs in 1st - Ottawa is the matchup that worries me the most, and it bothers me. That's a team that should be warmup work, yet they have that Columbus/Montreal vibe that is very worrying. With how that last Habs series went- I really, really do think it'll give the core that extra push they need when things get tough, for that reason they worry me less than Ottawa does.

We need that matchup. A lot of us are convinced this team is not going to win anything as constructed, but some people still believe including those in the org and on the team.

If they are right, at this point we defeat Ottawa and advance, probably in 6 games like a true contending team would. It's a chance to show the growth in the team since the Habs series 5 years ago. They are men now.

If they were to lose to the Senators... It means significant change is coming. It's win/win. Either we take the next step and we get to cheer on a deep run or they fail for the final time
