I honestly wonder if Arizona would throw the franchise at us for Matthews. Would be beyond painful to lose him, but I mean if we got their 1st OA pick at the draft, their first next season (you know they will still be a lotto team in the bottom 5), and a few blue chip prospects or a dman like Chychrun on top of it? Would basically be Matthews for a top pairing dman and 2 top 5 picks

Then we start to drop off a bit. Results keep coming through (for the most part), but the systems go out the window, and questions about the goaltending arise.
Then we really start to struggle in the last 20 games or so. We look bad, goaltending goes to shit, players look sluggish with carrying knocks, and the PP looks completely lost.

Then the playoffs start. We put up a fight, but get eliminated at the first hurdle.

Then the offseason happens and we're all good again.

You just described the last half decade.
The minute teams get serious in a push to make the playoffs the Leafs wilt.
I don’t know if you can ever fix it with this core not to mention that you don’t have the cap space to get better players for critical positions……goalie and defence

Only time we looked good earlier in the season because we played Vegas, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Calgary all without their best players
Kane, Bergy, Larkin, Bertuzzi all were missing and half of Vegas forwards

I would love to watch an intermission just about hockey
No small town promo
No WOKE bs
No politics

but that's too much to ask with Canadians broadcasts these days

Games here and there or even groups of games don’t mean much to me now
Just win the cup that’s it
Regular season means just that , regular!

For me it’s like the outdoor game.

Loved it at first but it’s gotten old.

At intermission I’d prefer people talking about the hockey in other games and that I’ve been watching
 
I don't watch baseball or basketball, but CFL and NFL doesn't go all silly during their intermissions.

Is it only NHL?
