If he keeps his game simple, shifts short, is a good netfront player on the PP and brings some energy and leadership, he'll have been a great addition at that price.
I just remember his skating being brutally labored. Definitely can still be a handful if used in limited minutes and used as you said
 
It is showing. Will be interesting to see if he lost a bit of heaviness in his shot as a result

Doubtful. There's a lot of small players out there who can hammer the puck. Matthews is still a big man that knows how to shoot. Also he relies more on his release than power

I agree. Hes been playing hurt the past couple of years. I think net front on pp and 3rd or 4th line with short shifts... He could bring a lot to the team.
