Post-Game Talk: Leafs tie Season Series with Senators

This may have been posted already... in case it hasn't... lol

Let's not count them before they hatch, but one thing to note is that aside from his goal in game 1, Willy has been flying fairly under the radar. Hoping for a big game from Willy on Saturday.

Sens will either come out hard and play tough or roll over and die. If the former just get through the first unscathed as they did last night and if the latter just try not to get hurt.

The cope on the Sens board is satisfying to the soul. Right now they are all fighting and debating that the Leafs rebuild starting in 2008 and it was a 20 year rebuild that is why we are so much better. And if we only count Shanny's time then Dorion doesn't count and they are on year 2 rebuild lmao.

No one tell them it is quite well documented the Leafs were mismanaged for many years and trying to win, just failing at it (like Nashville this year). Pretty documented the rebuild officially started in 2014 because it was a huge deal. Before that, the common belief was MLSE would never consent to a rebuild

Unrelated note, I looked at Travis Green's game log as a player and saw that he came back to the Leafs in '06-'07 in his final NHL season as a waiver pickup (got waived by the Ducks who won the Cup that year, ouch), I have no recollection of that at all despite watching almost every game. He was pretty washed by that point it looks like though, he put up 0 points in 24 games, then played in Switzerland the year after before calling it a career.

He had a strange career in general, a first round pick who was meant to be a scoring forward and put up a PPG season in '96, followed by 64 pts in 79 games the year after, then pretty much never came close to that level of production ever again. I mainly just remember his OT goal against Philly to keep the Leafs alive.

I missed most of the trash-talking about how bad Tkachuk is and how overrated he is since I couldn't join the GDT...

So now, I'd just like to say that his celebrating after a TYING goal is hilarious, and he might just be the worst captain in the league from a leadership perspective (maybe skill) that I've seen.

His hockey IQ is negative 5, all he does is run around, make borderline plays, and yell really loud, terrible player.

Stutzle sucks too.

About the game, ugly game again, but if they keep winning and Stolarz keeps playing like that, awesome.

Playing like this against Florida will be a tougher win for sure though.

I give Benoit a lot of shit (that he deserves usually), and he was terrible last playoffs (not his fault, was playing as a #4), but he has been great this series, so he deserves some praise.
I've always maintained this Tkachuk is a shade better than your average goon / instigator / agitator - he's never disapointed me.

Good luck against Florida. Not reason to be truly excited since we knew this would happen. The talent difference is just too high.

Fans are happy now but an early loss to Florida will quickly destroy these boards. Not saying it's 100% just the most likely outcome.
Let us finish off Florida-Light and we will see if Florida-caffeinated is much different. My prediction if that series happens it would go 7.

Marner haters are conflicted and don't know what to do with themselves. They'll probably twist stats, complain about lack of physicality to prove their point.

How does it feel knowing the Matthews first goal of the series was completely Marner. He hasn't done anything in the series other than capitalizing on Marner's skill. Thought he was supposed to be the one carrying Marner just like he did in the reg season right??
Matthews pretty much started plays on all 3 goals. What do you want to say? That two of them play well together? It’s true. And…..?

I do find it funny the narrative about the Sens being some young plucky upstart with only up to go from here. All of their core players are smack in the middle of their primes. I guess Sanderson is just entering his. They are a team that desperately struggles to put the puck in the net and they really have nothing coming that will change that anytime soon. Wouldn't be shocked if they fall backwards and miss the playoffs next season tbh.
True. Both them and MTL are in playoffs only because few teams especially NYR messed their season. Next year those teams can come back depending on offseason they have.
