The only losing mentality is with the team itself and those who choose to make constant excuses about injuries, expected goals, we were unlucky etc etc.
Wow they're really showing me in Nov how wrong I am for not believing they can win big games. I wonder how long the cherrleading will last if they go out again in the first round? Or does the success they had in Nov override that?

Look at you still posting negative crap in a historic PGT celebrating the most wins in a month by the Leafs ever and only the 3rd time the Leafs have swept Cali.

I'm so proud of you. You're a real fan.

There's always the expected parade

No, there isn't. It's strawman-ing at it's best. Literally no one is saying plan the parade - yet people like you, every time a fan gets excited about the team winning, think they need to remind that fan about the horrors of years past...so what? So after, if they do lose, you can say "see, told ya!".

For me, it's much more fun to enjoy the wins and dream about something I haven't seen my favourite team do since I was born. Why temper my enjoyment? I'm not living my life any differently being positive about this team, in fact, the days are quite a bit more fun when the team is winning and having fun. If they crash and burn, so be it. At least I'll have enjoyed the 6 months before it.

It's like there is a segment of the fan base so afraid of being let down in April, they've decided to just be down on the team for the 6 months prior in hopes that will somehow make the disappointment at the end feel better? It's very weird to me, but if that's how you want to be a fan, I'm not going to tell to you do it differently.

Not sure what to tell you if you think chest thumping and calling this team "great", "elite" with their history, even over the last 4 or 5 years isn't somehow comical. It's why rival teams fans always say Leaf fans are planning the parade after a few wins.

Ah so you're another one who cares what others you don't know think about you.

What do I think? I think if people want to enjoy games, more power to them. I think if they want to believe things are looking good, more power to them. What skin is it off my back? I think hockey is grown men chasing a frozen piece of rubber that serves as a distraction from a world that often sucks and that if you take it so seriously it makes you miserable (or miserable to be around) that you probably lack that thing you call "perspective ". I've buried a wife, a niece, a nephew etc. Hockey is hockey, scarcely important in the grand scheme and for many, their time to turn off the junk around them and just enjoy.

This is what I don't get. The people saying "stop praising them too much, it's the regular season". Yet whenever this team struggles a bit during the season, some of these people start criticizing them. If the regular season doesn't matter and they shouldn't be praised for it, why do they criticized when they struggle?
exactly, if we finish top 4 in the league, we have a great team and have watched great hockey for 6 months.

Playoffs are exciting but a lot of luck is involved, so I don't understand the call me when playoffs start attitude. Hey flip a coin, heads we are good tails we suck.

Oh the drama. Historic PGT - lol ok. I'll let you all go back to being happy fans - enjoy!

I don't see Colordo as a measuring stick, and besides, most teams coming off a lengthy road trip tend to lay an egg on home ice. I'm not worried about this game, they could win 3-0 or get shelled 7-1, and in the Grand scheme of things, means f*** all when it comes to measuring this team going forward.

Right now this is a decent team (no shocker, the leafs tend to do well in the reg season), the real test comes in the post season, do they fold like a cheap tent again or do they finally grow up and go on a run? No doubt the skill is there, jury is still out on the emotional maturity level of this squad when it matters most.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why a person who states that the "real test" occurs when the playoffs begin takes the time to comment during the regular season. If it's all about the playoffs, why bother paying attention to the regular season games? If those games don't matter to you, if they are unimportant, why burden yourself with the apparent need to be heard? Shouldn't you be satisfied with the knowledge that your view trumps those of the fools who enjoy the regular season games? IF, in the Grand scheme of things, the game against Colorado means 'f*** all', and by extension all the rest of the regular season games mean the same thing, then please allow me my ignorance and leave me the f*** alone, as I for one, enjoy watching my team. Thank you.

We're on a great run. I don't really get all the boohooing, why not enjoy success? There has been plenty of failure in this franchises recent past. It's okay to hope those days are but a bad memory.
Let's smoke the Av`s Wednesday. :thumbu:

As a fan , all I expect from my team(s) and organizations are to be competitive every year , make the playoffs and hopefully be in the mix for the championship , with a strong minor league system and drafting , while having a respectable franchise that holds its past with high regard and celebrates the fan experience .
Year in year out .
Winning the championship is the bonus .

That's rough man, I'm sorry.

The problem with all or nothing is the great majority of the time you get nothing.

So your idea of being a fan is shitting on the team constantly until they win?

You are the type of fan that doesn't deserve to have the Leafs win. You are NOT a fan by any definition of the word.

So log off and let the rest of us enjoy this if you don't feel the same. Easy Peasy.

So I am not a fan because I am not impressed with a 15 game stretch of good play?

My god. You really are easy to please!!:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Hayes, Noodles and O-Dog are talking about my exact point right now.

It's all about "Prove it in the playoffs"

No wonder its so toxic around here when the mainstream has been toxic for years (and no doubt has other effects on the team)

Theres such thing as enjoying when everythings working and rambling on about the playoffs when we have all heard about it before is pure loser mentality. It just is.

The Leafs have made changes and look better than ever and hopefully get good injury luck and goaltending this year. Just those two things can win a cup for them (and might have won one already). They are that good.

Anybody else find they are watching other teams more. Ever since last year I find I am interested in how others are doing, so I'm watching more games now. Maybe there is some psychological reason for this. Something like we are playing bad, I don't want to watch others because they are good.

Wow. I'm sold. The Overdrive cast are 3 of the absolutely brightest hockey minds around.....weird one would need to appeal to the lowest common denominator 'authority figures' for one who is 'confident' in themselves.

Fans in buildings probably. I hated watching last year and even had to force myself at times to watch our own games.

Im sorry for your losses…..

Peace be with them, and strength to you.

We looked better than ever last year too. Yeah it was in a bad division but we still lost in the 1st round in the weakest division. It's good to see what we are this year and it's probably the most fun I've had watching Leafs hockey in a few years now but it does mean nothing if we still don't make it out of the 1st round.

Right away you show signs you believed all the anti-Leafs crap spewed around though. Lots of money in the clickbait market.

The North division was never a bad division. It never added up statistically and is being even more disproven this year. If anything, the math showed just how balanced all four divisions were (and if played 5 years ago, the North really would have been a weak division). If there even was a weak division, it was out west but even then I'm not playing games there as any team that made it to the playoffs had a chance at winning provided they got good goaltending (which has never been a more proven reason for success in the playoffs yet the hardest thing to predict).

The key, as always, is to make it to the show every year in the best position possible to have a chance at the cup.....and the Leafs are one of the select teams set up to do just that.

We live in great times.

but like it or not the playoffs are even a shorter stretch. go 13 and 2 for your first 15 playoff games.

That series lose to the Habs really divided the fan base.
Just the stupid ones. And the ones with a "fire the GM" viewpoint.

So many are openly on here cheering against the team so they can get the GM fired. Read that again - openly cheering against the team because of a person who has zero effect on the on-ice play. And there are dozens of these nitwits on here.

I'm sure my pathetic little tag-along will be by soon...

This is the best Leaf team in over 5 decades, or one of the top.....and that is ALL they care about..
