It is used in Canada.
Had it for a hip injury over a decade ago, and worked wonders after years of pain.
Get a slight twinge now and again, but they are fleeting.
I’m going to look into it, I got ankle, knee, shoulder, and neck problems, but thankfully my hips are good. Knock on wood……..

He brings size and hands.

But it is preseason, not game 72 at age 36.

Yes of course. But it’s still worth note that he is moving way better than I expected.

He was averaging 30+ goals prior to his first injury season, but that was over 2 years ago.

A bonus based deal?

I really hope not. I hope he just takes a cheap ish deal and accepts that this is a prove it year as someone who hasn’t a lot the last 2

Knies - Matthews - Marner
Domi - Nylander - Jarnkrok
McMann - Tavares - Robertson

Not sure where he fits in the lineup if those are the early camp lines for the top nine. I do like his positive approach and hope he can actually show us he can still play. Would definitely make us a deeper team.

I mean a real bonus based deal, not one of those if you can lace up skates we'll give you another million.

NTC maybe, but not a NMC, so he can be waived if he falls off a cliff, or never gets up the hill to the cliff.

This is not how things are trending based on camp lines, but this is what I’d be looking at. Conditionally based Grebs and Pacioretty’s play in preseason.

Working from those early camp lines you posted though, I would just move McMann down 1 line and slot Pacioretty in as 3LW

By all accounts, Pacioretty takes his training very seriously. If he says he's back to the way he was prior to his injuries, I believe it. Why else would you roll the dice on a PTO if you didn't feel great. No reason to think he can't be a LW on our top 9. I'm looking forward to a solid season from him if he stays healthy. No reason he can't score 20+ goals on this team. Excited to see him in preseason games.

Something has to give though, and I suspect that is Cowan, Grebenkin, etc.

Frankly, if Tre re-signs both JT and Marner and to those cap hits then he is no better than Dubas. Teams do not so many high paid forwards.
I'm sure if it comes down to it Tavares would take less than 7 mil to stay here because he will be the odd man out. The 7 mil is just a mil less than Stamkos who was used as a comparable. On the open market he probably gets that, but to stay here who knows how much he'll have to sign for.

If he’s to come back it has to be for a lot less than 7 million

20+ might be a stretch. But if he puts up a 15+15 season on the third line that's pretty solid. He won't get prime PP time.

If' it's 15+15, he better be bringing a lot more than just 30 points. Be a wasted development opportunity for a prospect if we're talking that little production.
I do agree with you. I'm just trying to be realistic.

Trade request aside, I don't want to see Robertson be traded at all unless it's for a similar aged player with upside back. We need cheap youth in the lineup.

doubtful they are only expecting 30 pts from him. Again, if healthy, he should easily put up 40-50 pts minimum given the kind of talent he will be surrounded with. Big assumption on health of course, but if he is fully healthy and can stay healthy, he should certainly replace Bertuzzi’s production. Heck he may even spend some time playing shotgun with AM34.

The range of outcomes for Pacioretty is extreme.
He could look healthy and legitimately good, someone who can play on your top two lines or someone that is totally washed due to injuries.
I would say he'll be the most interesting player to follow once the preseason games start to see where his current level is.

Absolutely one of the most interesting stories at camp. Could flame out fast, or have a resurgence year. I think he’s around the same age Gary Roberts was when he was with us 😜

I think yh front office will give the tie to a vet in this situation. Opting to side with higher chance of consistency than the ups and downs of a younger guy.

Tre and Shanny want to win in the next couple years as much as possible. Development is a longer term goal and not necessarily aligning with the overall objective

Pacioretty on the ice for the Leafs is one of those things that make me feel like I don't actually understand roster construction at all.

The small glimpses I've seen of him this pre-season he looks good, and tonight's first pre-season game he obviously played well, like he's still an NHLer with something to contribute, but how the Leafs see him as a piece to solving their playoff woes, I don't understand whatsoever.

The Leafs are looking for that piece or two to help them break through the first round and into a cup run, and where Pacioretty fits in that equation is a mystery to me. If anything, he's a microcosm for the Leafs themselves, solid regular season performer who can scores goals, then his production drops by 25-30% in the playoffs and he gets tagged with "can't step up in the big moments."

Anyway, hopefully I'm missing something here, and on a personal level I hope he makes a strong comeback this year after a couple years of awful rehab and I'm rooting for the guy, but this is one I certainly don't understand.

Someone should 100% be giving him a shot, I'm just not understanding why it's the Leafs. Would love to eat crow on this one.

He's cheap and might be good and we don't have cap space until next season. Our playoff hopes should never hinge on a guy making league minimum. What alternative in his price bracket would you recommend?
