McCabe has been very good. He's pretty much what everyone has been craving here for a long-time. Functional physicality. He brings a lot of big hits, he can move the puck and he's a warrior.

This guy is a warrior and if we ever plan on going on a long championship run, these types are invaluable because they can do a bit of everything.

Contracts like this make me appreciate Kyper. He's been talking about McCabe getting 6M+ for the last week. He completely changed my expectation for this deal which makes me happy to see it at 4.5M.

This is a good deal, well done. Would've liked one year less but not the end of the world. As long as he doesn't fall off a cliff this should age well.

We will not be a playoff team in 5 years so who cares. Between Matthews deal expiring and I doubt he is re-signing this time, and Marner likely being gone, with no real studs in the pipeline this team will be treading water for a few years or able to get a few good years out of some good UFA signings, but by that part of their deal they will be in decline.
So basically, we are all in. Let's hope we get close before another decade of refusing to rebuild keeps us in mediocrity.

What does that mean he deferred money from years 2 and 3? How did it help lower the cap?
Good deal, thought this was going to start with a 5aav. Love McCabe, glad they are finally building a proper d-core after a decade.
