Confirmed with Link: Leafs sign F Max Domi to extension (4 years, $3.75M AAV)

Some will tell you it is because they wasted cap space on Domi, Kampf and Reaves but are OK to overpay Marner and then hope they can fix the bottom 6. $46+m/87.5m cap to 4 playoff losers and less than $15m to the rest of your forwards.
Wish we spent 12.25 on the rest of our forwards instead of 15

There is not an even slightly skeptical post in the first 5 pages of this thread, pretty crazy considering the stuff we argue about on here. Tre truly is our unity candidate GM

Whenever I watch a few minutes of a rugby game I think like this is what it must feel like to hate sports, when I watch Domi it's a similar feeling, this must be what watching Marner feels like to the Marner thread regulars.

Domi was poor in the bottom 6 and I don't see how he produced enough in the top 6 to warrant a raise and term.

Sorry, I was a few pages late. Didn't get anything but one haha in response though.

Reactions: leafs in five
Still remember how he scored a couple of goals against broons in a playoff game when he played for Carolina. Want that Domi, not the current version.

The lack of goal scoring from Domi is surprising and shocking.

16 hits in 47 games is an embarrassment.

Classic case of a guy signing a 4 year deal and resting on his laurels.
But
I still bet on him elevating and being a positive force in the playoffs.

We offered ROR the same money or even a bit more than what Nashville did, he wanted to go there instead though.

Am I mistaken or didn't he slight the culture in Toronto around the core? I thought he laid a bit of a backhanded compliment. Taxes are lower in TN as well.

He's never been a physical guy. Anyone expecting that, has never understood the player. He's averaged 38 hits per season pace, since joining the league.

He's more of a rub his gloves in a scrum guy, and avoids contact most of the time otherwise.

He's also not a goal scorer.. .that shouldn't be shocking, or surprising.. though three goals this year is particularly poor. Outside of playing beside Patrick Kane, he has 34 goals in his last 273 games. That's a 10 goal a season pace. His shooting percentage is around 6% for the last three teams he's played with... (except when playing with Kane). Decent results for a guy at his pay, would be 0.5PPG... that would actually be excellent value. If he was performing at that level, he'd have 23.5 points right now... he has 20. So, he's a bit behind what you'd hope for, but not a lot. His lack of goal scoring, or hits, is neither surprising, nor shocking... it's who he is.

Play hard during contract year
Once the money is guaranteed, time to sail off into the sunset
I worry Tavares doing the same
He played with Matthews enough to increase his assists. Otherwise, his play last year, is pretty much the same as this year.

At least the cap is going up, so it'll be the equivalent of like a 2M dollar deal in a year or two

Ya but in Toronto when the cap goes up, the big 3 are there wanting the lions share of the increase. It's not left for depth.
