Solid deal. I would liked it a little cheaper, but he is a nice Swiss army knife that fits in multiple places and adds offence and pugnacity.

Love the passion. Good to keep someone rather than having a revolving door.

There is your playoff stud. He was a PP specialist.

Factually he was not one of Boston's best players, and I welcome you to go ask the Boston board if he was.

Toronto wants to keep him cause Tre doesn't know a thing about hockey.

Likely my last message because you can't move off points. Points are irrelevant if the other team scores more.
What's your point? Your trying to compare a stat that isn't what he brings... It's the goalie and defenses job to not allow goals... on ice for goals doesn't mean it was his fault... 5 other guys were also on the ice with him... and he's not there to play defense he's there to be a pest, to piss people off, to be a pain in the ass in front of the net, to play physical, protect the team and chip in with some goals. And even with that stat the amount of goals and points he provide cancels that stat out because he made up for it with offensive production.... and again 5 other guys were on the ice with him for that stat that doesn't mean he's bad or it was his fault.

Forwards help defend................................

Forwards turn the puck over (Bertuzzi's specialty)...............

what?

Forwards help defend.. yeah no shit sherlock he was also playing more then he should have and was playing with more skilled guys as opposed to defensive guys because he was playing so well.

Just because forwards help defend doesn't mean they have to be good at it... Majority of teams skilled players aren't good defensively and don't defend well...

The point is your comparing a team stat pretty much and trying to pin it on one person when that's on all 6 players.

Points are team stats too... goals rarely happen on your own

Great price and the term is pretty much at the Max (sorry) of what you'd want for a 30 year old. This saves having to look for some also ran to fill the roll every year or two at that same price.

4 years.

A guy like Tavares is more honorable. These are the rules, play within them.

Domi is kind of a douche bag and will adhear to the rules when it suits him but also find ways to get the elbow up in the nose or a stick in the nuts. Seems to get guys rattled in chirping sessions instead of just skating by with his head down like JT.

You get the idea...
Domi at $3.75M or JT at $11M. There’s no Marques of Queensbury rules in the playoffs. I’ll take Max.

Solid deal. We will enjoy 4 years of Max if he can play steady, chippy hockey and not go sideshow-Bob on us. :-)

And can be moved if it doesn’t work out………

Pretty sure his Merch is already popular enough to stop that. Unless he shits the bed obviously.

Totally the wrong way to think about a player, but, MLSE after all.

the thing is - i think it's a very legitimate question. and sometimes it can be very frustrating. regardless of someone feels the other person is being obtuse - that instead of simply answering the question by going more into depth in what someone means - that barbs are being thrown. because there's always going to be other people who don't know (who lurk) who wouldn't mind knowing the answer to a question when it is asked.

what's the difference between Kerfoot and Domi is not a very complicated question. I would like to know. and no - it is not very obvious to me because I didn't really see Kerfoot play a lot. and Domi in Toronto not at all, so an explanation would be appreciated.

Will gladly respond to you Daisy. For the record, my response to that poster was framed based on back and forth that had already gone on between them and other posters, and I did go on to express my opinion to the question later in this thread -- I stopped because I felt it was detracting from this thread, but I have no problems discussing/reiterating it.

To me, it's attitude and pushback; Kerfoot, while a hard working player that does do a lot of things right, doesn't have that F.U. attitude that Domi does. When Domi see's something he doesn't like, he takes action (he only really initiated it, versus responding to it, sometimes though -- was notable in the playoffs), whereas Kerfoot mostly goes through the motions.

An example would be sticking up for a teammate; both players will enter a scrum to defend a teammate, but Domi goes in with initiative (to take action), while Kerfoot goes in because it's the right thing to do (and then proceeds to just put his arm on someone's shoulder). Domi barely hits, but I like that when the puck drops, there's no friends on the other team, it's an us vs. them mindset.

Does it make the team better? In my opinion, yes, because our top players aren't naturally like that.

I don't want to detract too much more from the thread, but as a fellow lurker, feel free to message me and I'll gladly go in-depth or answer any questions.

He was not their best player, was a liability at 5v5, and collected a bunch of PPP.

This is the reason everyone had high hopes, it looks like he flopped.

He was the 3rd best player on his line this playoffs.

I may have missed parts of this conversation so I apologize if I did but weren't the Leafs 1-21 in the playoffs on the PP. He was tied for first in points and was a +2. None of these guys were great but I'm not seeing how Bertuzzi was the issue?

Yup being able to take draws is huge if one of the big centers get injured.

I also like that he will pummel someone for messing with his teammates. He has that dog in him.

Has the captain ever done that?
I think he glanced at someone one time....or he had something in his eye, it was hard to tell.

no thank you that was very helpful. i appreciate it :)
(and to be fair, i did see it after. i keep forgettting this format sometimes so i only saw the earlier comments, and then when i posted it was like "several posts later." so my apologizes for the chiding).

I will say in regards to this - for someone who could have gotten money and chose to take less. that means a freaking lot. he actually put his money where his mouth is.
