Give me the short version, because it looks like McCabe is propping up a lot of people statistically, Tanev has been good like I said, and it looks like OEL is a huge downgrade on McCabe for similar pairings.

In the top 4 McCabe looks like the best D, then Tanev, then Reilly, and then OEL.

The Samoskevic giveaway and then the turnover on TB's first goal are possibly the two weakest plays he's made all season and both are in part a byproduct of playing on his weakside and being forced to make a play on his backhand under pressure. Usually being a very good skater with strong agility is very important when making this transition and that's not really OEL's forte. His puckmoving ability and hitting players in stride with good outlet passing also looks to have taken a hit. Once you went with the McCabe- Tanev pairing, I guess this was the first attempt especially with Hakanpaa either not healthy or looking totally shot but I don't think this is a smart idea if we're looking to get the best out of OEL.

It is amusing how even after getting Tanev we still need a partner for Rielly lol. Hopefully Hakanpaa heals up for playoffs or we get another piece so that OEL can play with Timmins.

I remember when we signed him—85% of this board was crying about what a horrible signing it was and questioning what Brad was thinking, blah blah blah. Now everyone loves him. I defended the signing from the beginning, it just goes to show that the majority of people on this board have no idea what they're talking about.

Should be in the top 50 ever for goals by a defenseman by years end.
