Tre won free agency with the Tanev + OEL combo.
You realize they aren't one year contracts right?

Well this goes for a good percentage of players in the NHL when signed. You still have to give Tre credit for making several great movesYou realize they aren't one year contracts right?

Tanev
OEL
Stolarz
And add in the PTO of Lorentz
Great adds that bring championship experience to the team
Regressed from looking like a Norris caliber #1 D to a legit top 4 guy ... at 3.5 million ... what a failure of a signing...Lorentz dropped off after game 2, OEL has regressed from the start of the season, and so has Stolarz, Tanev has been good, but not great.
OEL is the only person who played a significant role in the Cup win...
I think overall it was a good offseason, but the length of some of the contracts worries me, and pretending like these are "several great moves" is not reality...

Now you are just making shit up.Tanev has been good, but not great.
Tanev looks like the most important addition to the Toronto Maple Leafs this season (though Anthony Stolarz has a case), showcasing a level of mastery on the back end this team hasn’t seen since peak Jake Muzzin. And even Muzzin probably wasn’t at quite this level.
Squaring off against top-line competition every night, Tanev has been on the ice for only 11 five-on-five goals in 23 games. That’s actually a smidge more than the expected number of goals against: 10.5.
In the nine games Auston Matthews missed in November, Tanev was caught on the ice for one measly five-on-five goal against.
Among the nearly 150 NHL defenders who have logged at least 300 five-on-five minutes this season, Tanev ranks eighth in expected goal rate defensively, fourth in the number of shots surrendered and fifth in the high-danger attempt department.
This is what an elite defender looks like.
