Maybe wait until the season starts ? Maybe give it a 15 games

People are praising Kampf. I'm going to give everyone 20 games before they run him out of town. People are going cry for Vesey who had 5 goals for us

Kampf had one. Even the best defensive specialist needs to contribute. Spezza going to pull his hair out

Kase will be a pleasant surprise
Thanks for this. I was in the process of programming my criticism and praise schedule in my palm pilot.

So you get to shit all over them all summer long and keep going now but everyone else has to wait until two months into the season before we get to say anything nice.

Explain to me again why we need a defensive specialist who but had 1 goal ?

Were being dangled and absolutely outclassed and outplayed by Josh Anderson ?

Or maybe the year before by Foligno that we had to go out there get a so called defensive specialist

Wasn't our problem depth in scoring?
Wasn't our problem pp?

Penalty kill we were pretty good

Are you young to play Kampf 25 mins a game against Barkov, Kuch and Panarin?
They would love nothing more to play against a guy who had 1 goal

The depth guys looked pretty good tonight. Huh, weird.

I was told that the depth was going to be Mess-y.

It's pre-season, lots of guys fighting for jobs look good. A better measure is when the season starts and they're playing against NHL players in games that matter.

On a related note, Robertson doesn't look ready to me at all. There's just this awkwardness to his game, like he's trying too hard but not really sure what he's supposed to be doing. Looked okay on the PP but otherwise seems to be chasing the game, not really in sync with everyone else on the ice and when he does get the puck he rarely is able to do what he wants to do with it.

Imagine the reaction if they looked bad..

Ho-Sang and Bunting looked fantastic. I liked Semyonov's game, although he didn't play much.

I'd rather Simmonds than Gabriel to be frank. I'll admit theres a cringe factor with Gabriel for me but for a big man he's often on his ass. Also Dahlstrom doesn't need another preseason game we've seen enough.

Reminds me of Yakupov. Always seemed to be being chased by bees as Ray Ferraro would say

Simmonds and Gabrial can both go. There's nothing of value there

Disagree - it's always nice to have a couple of nukes in your back pocket for certain matchups. Ritchie can't be our only significant physical presence.

It's shocking to me that a Leaf fan would say that because we just saw 5-goal on first line man Philip Danault make a big impact in the Leafs series by shutting down Matthews, and then get paid for it handsomely in free agency.

And he finally gives us that C on the first PK that we've lacked for a while.

This alone is huge. Actually be able to win some draws on the pk

Nothing is good. Everything is bad.

We'll see how his offense looks on a much better team. I'm sure it'll end up at a decent 4th line level with us. Meanwhile, getting a real defensive C to trust with dzone starts in tough matchups and tough faceoffs (at evens and on the PK) might be a very nice addition and not something we've really had in our bottom 6.

He's gotta relax.

Haley was right - he's chasing the game too much.

Why did we lack a C on PK ? He's not a face-off specialist you know that right

He's not Denault. He's far far far from Denault. Denault was good against Matthews but everyone who is slightly physical is

There's reason Denault makes 5 million and Kampf wasn't offered a contract by all teams Chiacago

He's an excellent faceoff guy - and used against top faceoff guys.

And Danault didn't make 5m at Kampf's age.

Kampf hasn't had problems scoring in a Leaf jersey so far. It's only preseason, but a change of scenery with more talented linemates could elevate that part of his game.

Why not? because you don't think they're good enough or cause management won't let it happen?

Because JustIn Holl Has been glued to Jake Muzzin they are an established pair, unless Holl gets hurt he's on the 2nd pair with Muzzin.

As for Simmonds once again unless he gets hurt his spot is secure

Weren't we one of the best face-off teams last year? Who did we lose that we had to get one guy who had 1 goal ?

The year before Foligno kicks our ass so we gp out there get Foligno

Last year Denault so we to go out there get a defensive specialist

Working out really well

I wouldn't worry that much about his offense. His 1.6sh% was likely an outlier. He'll likely give us fine 4th line offense.

How do you know he won't be Danault? He has a strong defensive reputation, and will have a bigger spotlight here. His takeaway/giveaway ratio is phenomenal: 113 to 31. Danault's is 190:196. He could very well be just as good.

In no way is Ho Sang bumping Nylander off of Line 2

he could but only if Willie plays on the top line

Nylander - Matts - Marner

Bunting - JT - Ho-Sang

Ritchie - Kerfoot - Simmonds

Mikheyev - Kampf - Spezza

Ritchie hasn't been on a 1st line for any length of time since his Jr days and unless his skating has gotten a lot better in the last few days I just don't think he can stick and stay with M&M

As for Ho-Sang, I was at tonights game and if there was a better forward out there I didn't see him. His skating was excellent as was his puck handling, really nice pair of hands and a major league release. Bunting was very strong all game he was physical and able to find the seams and sneak into holes he's really smart and has very good tools.

I like him over Barabonv, Petan and Boyd. Actually I liked Boyd

Boyd was actually decent offensively (much better than Kampf) but not a defensive matchup guy at all.

Hey I hope Kampf can be as effective defensively as they hope and doesn't get buried. And i hope they don't overplay him. I like what I've seen so far but we'll see. I do think he'll score more than he did in Chicago though.

Ho-Sang, Bunting, and Dermott were the best Leafs. Liljegren & Sandin both impressed. So did Kral, Amadio, and Kase. Mostly everyone played fine except Simmonds and Gabriel, who suck, and Dahlstrom is bad, but got carried by Dermott.
Great thanks. So the guys who we wanted to play well did.
Ho-Sang should be on the team baring something awful the rest of the way. Our 5-6-7 d man should Dermott, Sandin and Lilly in whatever order. Figure out the cap somehow.
Kral looks good and in the convo for a call up if needed.
Bunting looks great. It's very early but this is the off season we should have had last year, but whatever at least we had it now.
