You are correct, sir. I have seen people say the exact opposite about Malgin and Robertson, but you are clearly paying attention to detail. Also, Malgin has been very consistent throughout all of the games. Robertson has been hit/miss. Consistency is a huge factor.

Mind you, Robertson has been pretty good, offense-wise. I'm still open to him stealing a spot. Needs to play like he did yesterday for the remaining of the pre-season.
I think they'll have to give Robertson a longer look just for his shot alone.
I'm not convinced yet that he's ready for full time duty. Playing decent against scrubs in the preseason isn't the same as facing regular season lineups.

Worth an extended look though, IMO.

Unbiased since 02.

Man I feel bad for Samsonov because on one hand he made a couple of 10 bell saves and overall he was really REALLY good but on the other hand 2 of the goals he did allow were pretty soft, and I know it was mostly the Marlies in front of him tonight but the 1st and 3rd goals were 100% on him.

I don't want that becoming a trend, I want to be saying even in games we win something like.

"Goaltending needs to get It's shit together we can't keep doing this." like I and MANY others did EVERY night from December on.

That being said Robertson and Steeves are looking really good

Robertson Tavares Nylander just might work I'd give it a shot when Tavares comes back.

I'm not seeing what everybody else is with Holmberg.

I think Simmonds is in tough and It's a shame because he's actually playing but You got Steeves, ZAR McMann all playing really well Simmonds is getting pushed out.

I do wish Keefe had given Robertson a chance at his hat trick when Ottawa pulled the goalie but he was kept on the bench, I know he just finished a shift but you are up 5-2 and he's got a shot at a hat trick

Robertson looks like he's finally ready to make the team, and it's great to see.

Impressed with both Malgin and Robertson in the sense that they've both stopped shying away from puck battles, not really playing that much of a perimeter game anymore. In my view both have made the team, even if one of them ends up as the 13th forward.

Holmberg and Steeves both look like really solid, smart, and hard working players that will be on the leafs next year.

Simmonds is done. Loved the hit on Chabot, but he has nothing left and makes quite a chunk over league min.

That is exactly what Washington said last year, and Samsonov did, who played in front a 100 point NHL team, and in 44 games posted a .896 sv% on the season and an GSAx of -12.1

When you play 1/2 a NHL season posting below < .900 sv% on average, you get exactly what the Leafs got last year month by month, and it requires your offense to outscore your goaltending to post wins.

in all reality its good to see certain players playing well, but at the end of the day imo preseason is more about what the coaching staff is seeing outside of games and the work being put in by the bubble players in practice etc, performing in the games is just the cherry on top. im pretty sure we all remember tyler ennis's amazing presason in 2018 where he was given the 1st line winger job by the fanbase after a few games vs the sens in the preseason. rooting for some of these guys though, im tired of the cliffords and simmonds of the world doing next to nothing all year and getting ice time regardless lol.

love reese- kampf- kubel line. Thats a lock. Same with buntin-matthews-marner. Leave that alone

I like kerfoot at centre with engvall and jarnkrok for 3rd line.

2nd line its time for tavares to move to wing. Take pressure off him. Can malgin play centre? Lol

This is correct. Fans aren’t privy to a large body of the players work. What is shown in practice goes along way in separating the fringe guys.

Glad you are bringing up GSAx again. This is just a reminder for you.

Murray: 0.163 GSAx/60
Campbell: -0.049 GSAx/60
Samsonov: -0.307 GSAx/60
Mrazek: -0.668 GSAx/60

Looks like our goaltending improved a lot.

Leave it to Mess to come in here and bad mouth an AHL team that just beat an NHL team.
