Would've been nice to pay a "Buffalo tax" on someone like Stolarz who can eat some starts, given that UPL had only ever played a starter's workload for half a season. Or even take a flier on someone like Blackwood. Yet Adams ended up with the ghost of James Reimer.
Sure, but nobody could have predicted that Stolarz , who turns 31 next month, would give a Vezina worthy performance in a rare starter's role with his 5th team. His most starts in a season were 24 last year with the Panthers.

I realize you're using him as an example, but he's this season's poster boy for "goalies are voodoo".

(Excuse me while I get behind the barricades as the HF Sabres goalie contingent discovers this sacrilege.)

Thompson, he had experience playing in a 1A/1B situation and was traded to Caps. But I think Adams was riding the Levi train, considering he even waive Reimer to do it, which didn't make sense.

Not easy to hit a winner in that situation. Adams did make a mess of it though.
Kevyn has some kind of youth movement in his head and he can't stop. It feels like every year the draft is more important to him than the games themselves and making the playoffs.

I don't disagree. But I would argue that the likes of Stolarz/Thompson/Blackwood were more likely to give the team 35ish starts than Reimer. But Adams believed that either UPL would be able to handle a heavy workload all season long for the first time in his career, or that Levi would be able to help pick up the slack, so someone like Reimer would be fine. At the moment, it looks like he was wrong.

Goalies are voodoo.

I mean I’m not the best example, but I’ve had to be an EBUG before. One game the puck looked like a beachball. Next game it was a pea. And sometimes that would happen in the same game.
