Leafs Positive Safe Space

It's possible but not likely. His whole personality and the vibes he gives off doesn't give me much hope.
Perhaps - we're all spit balling, but I've been around this team long enough to be aware that Murphy's law can go in both directions. As per Matthews - I just think it's his introverted personality. So he might not give the dressing room motivational speech but he can still lead by example. Success can't also be entirely be up to him as he needs the supporting cast.

After his assinine exit comments about too many passengers, I have no respect for the guy anymore. My other issue is for being one th highest paid players he should be leading the way in the playoffs. Like McDavid, Crosby in his prime and Draistl do.

He could have been putting himself in that category along with the group - it should have been clarified as it's ambigous either way but I would give the benefit of the doubt as it's not characteristic of him to say those things publicly.

Leafs are a few pieces away from being a big deal. We literally took the defending chsnos to game 7 with our backup goalie. Itd not all doom a D gloom but organizationally our front office needs a shake. They have made dumb moves, poor asset mgmt, and have vilified our players and fans. Shanny has to go and the damage between the 2 needs to be mended.

While true, the Leafs have changed their bottom 6 multiple times as well as changed coaches. The results are the same. When the pressure is on they told. The common denominator is Matthews Marner and Nylander. Also due to the cap they take up, it's hard to get better bottom 6 guys that are want more than league minimum
Reshuffling of their bottom 6 was part of the problem. Cap was supposed to go up but it didn't. Now it is. Feels like Toronto will just miss an opportunity

The core wants overpaid consistently. They then call minimum wage players passengers while doing nothing themselves. It's really quite astonishing.

Typical leaf fan overthinking a quote. And again, COVID happened - cap was supposed to go up but didn't so we have been strapped cause of that.

There's no logic in Leaf land. They're masochists
You're right.

Wanting to bring back the same 4 players who have been the mainstays for all 9 years of failure (literally every single other roster player as been shuffled), that is the definition of no logic.

COVID happened for every team. They all managed. I get it, with the cap not going up it left them with little room to add better bottom 6 players. The bottom 6 isn't the reason they have failed 9 years in a row. It's crazy to me how so many of you still defend Matthews, Marner and Nylander when they are the biggest problems

Plot twist:

He's injured every playoffs and that's his excuse, ironically, the same reason he needs to go.

Every year the same crap from this team. Marners a coward and Matthews is made of glass. They both need to go.

You lose one for nothing and that stings, Matthews needs to be spoken to and you need to get a legit KINGS randsom for him.
You don't win a trade that involves Matthews, unfortunately.

COVID affected every team, yes - but it didn’t affect every team the same way. The Leafs had just committed big money to 3 of their up and coming young stars in Matthews, Marner, and Nylander under the assumption that the cap would keep rising like it always had. Then COVID hit, the cap froze, and suddenly the Leafs were boxed in. That timing was unique to the Leafs - we had to sign 3 young star players. Big contract to Tavares definitely didn't help either.

On top of that, Southern US teams got to exploit their tax advantages in a flat-cap era, while Canadian teams like the Leafs had to overpay or let go of depth. It wasn’t just bad planning - it was a brutal mix of bad timing and structural disadvantage. None of which are Matthew, Marner or Nylander's fault.
