Took my youngest to the range today and had him use my old Winchester to shoot some paper targets with the Canadiens' logo on it, so a guaranteed Leafs win tonight. Turns out the kid is damn near a marksman for a 12 year old. Gearing up for his first hunt this spring. Can't wait.

This will be a huge game for Matthews and Laine as they'll have a chance to join only a handfull of other top 2 draft picks that have been able to score 600 career goals combined. With 385 goals for Matthews and 214 goals for Laine they're now sitting at 599 goals combined. With a possibly combined 26+ seasons of hockey left to play they might not quite reach Ovechkin and Malkin with a combined total of 1380 goals right now, but should easily be able to lock down the number 2 spot amongst top 2 draft picks in goals scored. Hopefully Laine can find his game again and sign with my Leafs after his contract in Montreal is over, since Matthews and Laine are destined to play together. I mean both having huge lion tattoos on their shoulders can't be a coincidence, can it?

Plus Laine said he would like to play for the Leafs before getting drafted. You don't hear many players say that.

Would be nice to see these two join forces and summon the hockey gods in order to end the longest Stanley cup drought in NHL history and then get inducted into the Hall of fame together when it's all said and done!

Top 1/2 Goals (Since 2000)
  1. Ovechkin/Malkin (2004) - 1380 Goals
  2. Crosby/Ryan - 865 Goals
  3. Kovalchuk/Spezza (2001) - 806 Goals
  4. Kane/JvR (2007) - 801 Goals
  5. Stamkos/Doughty (2008) - 726 goals
  6. Tavares/Hedman (2009)- 639 goals
  7. Hall/Seguin (2010) - 634 Goals
  8. Mackinnon/Barkov (2013) - 629 Goals
  9. Matthews/Laine (2016) - 599 Goals

Damn we are going to need to unify Canada by drilling through mountains again?
One of my first book reports as a kid, I presented a lengthy report on a book about Wilfred Laurier the PM who oversaw a second portion of the rail, a monumental and critical achievement to ensure trade among the provinces., It was quite long for the time and I recall receiving an A. :)

He was a civil libertarian, so I would probably get along with him too.

Howdy Ho's !!

First a win tonight is a non-negotiable. Just get it done.

Now confession time. I grew up in Banff and played many a minor hockey game against Canmore. We had a full facility modern concrete rink and they a had... well a barn. We probably got the better of them most of the time but it was war, every time. We were the entitled kids and they were the working class. How times have changed and how Canmore has grown up. I have an Aunt and cousin still living there. My cousin's kid is currently the Captain of the 1st team bantam squad. Me, I'm still that little hockey player in my mind they are still "Canmorons" LOL.
