Rakell? Rakell's a simple deal, particularly if this team retains. Probably 20 teams would be calling about Rakell at $3.5M AAV.

It’s both tbh. They give up too many grade A chances because the system is trash. But the goalie also never make a big save.

The goalies are awful though. Blom had an awful game.

All of these goalies on the team are awful in addition to having a horrible roster, crappy coach, and an imbecile running the team.

Why? EK's not happening until this summer and then the team will have two retention spots open up from Petry and Smith's contracts expiring.

I don't think the Pens *have* to retain to move Rakell, but if it bumps the value up, why wouldn't they? If retaining a million or so on Rakell gets you a 1st and a decent prospect thrown in, that's what the Pens should be gunning for.

I mean, unless there's a deal lined up for EK and you're getting a better return back than what you'd get for Rakell. But I really don't think EK moves until the summer.

I don't think he has to, fwiw. But if it makes the return go from good to great, he should in order to maximize value. /shrug
