Knies needs 1/2 a season to learn then you hope he breaks out or plays above average for the second half. In his current form I don't see how he elevates us further relative to what we already had set for playoff lineups.

Not sure how much I want them to make it. If they upset Boston they would be a scary opponent.
Personally, I am tired of Tampa or Boston playing the Leafs in the playoffs. I really hate this new format (yes, this year we would still play Tampa). I want someone different for once.

Also, it would be humiliating for Boston.

Eaten alive is a bit of a stretch. He's been fine all things considered
He's gotten knocked on his ass the last 4 shifts in a row, handed the Panthers a triple A scoring chance and then did it again on the same shift. He's stopped skating and the puck has just been sliding off of his stick Not a medal worthy performance

Yeah he should be a player that goes up and down for injuries replacement. Kind of like Holmberg a bit
Should play half of season with the Marlies, get acquinted with the speed

Puck sliding off his stick seems like a problem that will need to be worked out. But not worried. His recovery looks fine in the college clips but obviously in the NHL a flaw like that becomes an exploit.

As of now we would’ve played the Rangers if they ranked by points. The media in that series would be next level lol

Because he had some leverage as a college player. Signing him now gives us depth for the playoffs anyway. No team goes on a long playoff run with running into injuries.

Also I’m not 100% sure on this but I believe that only playing 2-3 games this season mean he won’t have enough roster time to be eligible for an offer sheet when his 3 year deal ends. So he won’t have much leverage on his next deal
Leafs did it because they can. They will pay more one year earlier but it ensures he is in the blue and white. It also gives them options up front they desperately need in the pinch in the event of an injury in the playoffs.

It mighr not be fair to ask that of a young guy, but it beats working in the mines.

I can’t add anything to this thread , and I’m sure some of you are ecstatic about it lolololol as I’m watching it on my phone this time and when I exit it , I have to re enter everything
So I’ll see y’all after the game
Knies looks like Bambi out there
Good for him , great game for him to get his skates wet …
I’m sure as I would be like the Panthers team hitting him at all costs , letting him prove himself.
He’s getting right back up and heading for the greasy areas …
Don’t know about him in the playoffs???
Maybe too much at this stage

Here’s one for the ages
He’s already showing more balls than our previous Giraffe did at anytime !! Ever !!!
Let’s just get out of here with no injuries
GLG

Thank you again …

The left wing lock!
Getting rid of the red line makes the trap a little more difficult to employ. If they call the game by the books, it is far more difficult to run as well without the ability to slow down and interfere with guys.

Those years were awful though.

"guys don't get excited, we haven't even seen Knies play, temper expectations"

2 periods later.....

"he is clearly not ready yet, needs another year of development"
