If Holzer is injured, Franson goes third pairing. Komi is the 7th d-man or vice-versa.
Dont care about depleting marlies, we have numerous Marlie capable d-men(Percy for example).

I'd like to see Franson signed. He's been great with the little ice time he received last season. Easily better than Holzer and Komisarek.
And with Gardiner out, I would also love to see Mike Kostka called up. It's his time.

any injuries then what?
burke always likes to have 7-8 ready defence, then if there are more then 2-3 injuries , call up from the marlies.
we cant leave the marlies with 5 defence, they need aleast 8 defence.
gardiner is aleast a month away , no need to rush him into the nhl.

Why would you go into any season expecting 3 d-men to be injured?
You have at least 8 d-men ready if you count the marlies.
Why are you so worried about the marlies? We have numerous d-prospects that can play on the marlies that didnt even make the team because it was so stuffed.
Marlies are secondary to the Leafs still. There are other guys we can sign to fill in for the Marlies.
Also it was technically 5 that I listed (Gardiner, Holzer, Ranger, Kostka and Fraser). Gardiner and Holzer are prospects who are playing on the Marlies waiting for the NHL lockout to end to be called up. Ranger was a good NHLer before he quit hockey for a bit. Only 2 of those guys (Kostka and Fraser) were really only signed to play for the Marlies, some math shows that still leaves 8 guys (10-2=8) who are NHL defenseman.
