If we're talking top 4 guys, not top pairing, aren't the leafs just better off to wait and see?
Roster:
Rielly - top pairing guy with #1 upside
Gardiner - 2nd pairing guy, probably not better than a good #3 in the best case
Zaitsev - #3 upside, maybe #2 if we're really lucky
Carrick - 2nd paring upside
Marincin - apparently top 4 upside (I haven't seen it)
Prospects:
Nielsen - top 4 upside
Dermott - top 4 upside
Greenway - top 4 upside
Valiev - top 4 upside
Lindgren - might be a longshot but seems like his ceiling is high
Seems to me like the leafs should either take a swing at a guy with a big ceiling like Trouba, Pulock, etc or just wait and see. The top 4 could fill out from what we have already, but there's always room for potentially elite talent
