One thing, he ain't no Karlsson not even close that kid is special and a generational talent.

Karlsson wasn't considered a generational talent before last season. Hell my best friend (A sens fan) hated him because he was horrible defensively his first couple seasons but give it time and Karlsson became one of his favorite players.(His flow) Give Gardiner some time before writing him off. Gards will most likely peak as a #2-3 dman, not Karlsson good

At times Karlsson looked atrocious defensively. Way worse than Gardiner. Not saying Gardiner will be as good but too early to just write him off.

I am not writing him off but he will never be Karlsson, again that kid is a superstar. Gards is so far gone into the offensive thinking that I can't see Carly using him unless he somehow learns to do what RC wants and that I imagine is not him rushing every single time he has the puck. He was working the corners in the offensive zone the one time and Bozak failed to cover which resulted in a goal.

Not worried about this lost was bound to happen but two things were apparent. Scrivens is very sloppy and Gards has low D IQ and rushes way to much.

This is their second regulation loss in their last 15 games. Relax. It was a bad game (which I expected all things considering). At times during this season we've been quick to judge this team based on a bad outing yet more often than not, the team follows up with a bounce back. It's done and over with. No longer matters what happened tonight, what matters is what they do on Thursday night.

I know this game wasnt scrivens fault but he just pisses me off sometime. I dont know what you guys think but I think he tries to act all special sometimes

Gards won't ever be able to go ppg like karlsson but if you watch some Ottawa games from a couple years ago you will see karlsson get burned more often then gardiner does now. Defensive positioning can be taught. He is so young and has all the tools. So he got dangled a couple times by the best player in the game(arguably) this year. Move on and see what he brings Thursday.

I hope so but doubt RC has that kind of patience, kids gonna figure it out in the A or on another team. Every night he is texting on his phone at night probably earns him another night up there.

I would trade him for an A prospect forward myself, The txt mashing thing is probably the worst showing of character the kid can have.

We're running out of gas but for some reason those teams aren't? I strongly disagree with your opinion.

other teams are coming on strong. 7th is ok , we will make the playoffs, 6th no good, dont want to play wasington

its still going to be , montreal or boston in the playoffs, hope by than we have a full tank:nod:

all those wins have come with less total shots on net than the other teams, a habit we dont want to continue, not in the playoffs,

This, they were really pressuring the puck and our guys were buckling and taking stupid penalties. Do not want to face them first round, would rather the Bs.

In all fairness our guys looked like they had cement for legs.

Missed the game due to exam.. but looks like this is the wakeup call we needed. I was secretly hoping for a wake-up call for this team (as a blow-out loss) and I hope this is it (as in no further losses lol).

As good as Scrivens might be, I still hope Leafs shop for a goaltender in the off-season. We need a reliable backup, who can still some games and the team be 0.5 when he starts. Look at Budaj in Montreal, he has 7-1-1 record and that is the difference between us and them.

What's the texting story ?

This topic is like beating a dead horse. I'm not sure how many times it has been explained. In years past, the Leafs constantly out shot their opponent and where did it get them? Certainly not to the playoffs. You think all of a sudden luck has decided to be with them all throughout the season? The same good luck that took out Reimer, Frattin and Lupul for periods throughout the season and yet the team STILL won despite that?

So they allow a lot of shots against, go do some homework and get back to me on the quality of shots they allow against versus the quality of shots they take. There haven't been many nights like last night where our goalie has had to stand on his head and steal two points for the team. The reason why the team has been successful is because they've focused on limiting the quality of shots against their goalie rather than chase the puck in their zone trying to clear it meanwhile opening up shooting lanes for high quality chances in their zone.

The amount of times I've read about this shot count business, I'm starting to think that this is rocket science to some people. Stats are nice but context is your friend.

Every time they cam on the press box he is on his phone texting.

 Too funny.

Not only do they pan to these players in the press box when play is stopped (a.k.a a point in the game where texting is a non-issue), it's such a small sample size to just assume he is doing it the entire time.

And, if that were the case, someone like Nonis would talk to him if they deemed it an issue.

Why bother? I said it here already, Leafs could go undefeated and people will still find something to complain about. I remember a thread on here where people got on the players case because they play video games on their downtime. As if playing Call of Duty is the reason why the team didn't make the playoffs in the years past. There will always be some people that will take the tiniest detail and blow it up into something far bigger than it really is.

I think we all needed the kick in the pants.

Hopefully the team can get refocused and remember there's still a lot of work to be done.
