I hope so but doubt RC has that kind of patience, kids gonna figure it out in the A or on another team. Every night he is texting on his phone at night probably earns him another night up there.

I would trade him for an A prospect forward myself, The txt mashing thing is probably the worst showing of character the kid can have.

You are mad at him for texting?

So texting makes Gardiner a player with a lack of character...wow who knew!

Gardiner will be fine, he has good skill he just is trying to hard to impress Carlyle at this point and is second guessing himself.

Can't say I'm even mad. Things happen, we've had a phenomenal run as of late, and now we know how Montreal felt last Saturday I guess ;).

Oh well, brush it off.

Hope the players learn from it and move on. I'd really like to hang onto the 5th seed to avoid playing Washington in the First Round. They're damn hot right now.

A bad loss but whatever, just have our team regroup, forget about it and get ready for the Islanders.

Do the players really learn anything from playing a bad game like last nights? It seems to me they don't, as I've seen too many times that they come out flat and play like crap. What happened after the last time they smoked the Habs?

Wash, rinse and repeat!

Was pretty much expecting a loss against the Caps. They're on a hot streak and were well rested. Leafs....not so much. Only surprising thing to me was Lupul coming back from injury and not being in BEAST mode. Oh well, suck back, reload and come out flying against the Isles.

Oh and to the Gardiner texting complaints....you're really reaching if that's what gets you upset. He was sitting in the press box. Maybe you should take that anger and direct at all the morons out there who text while driving.

Just the game that all Leaf haters were hoping for. Brush it off, they're the hottest team in the league right now and the Leafs just couldn't handle them last night. On another night, maybe. Probably. Yes.

Can't believe some people are counting New Jersey as a loss, that's hilarious. Oh TSN commenters!

Go Leafs.

Orr/mcclaren should stop being hockey players and do what their here for: fighting. Orr pisses me off the most when he skates around trying to dangle the puck or play on the board and insta loses the puck. When was the last time orr dropped his gloves anyway. We should only retain mcclaren.

It's hilariously pathetic that people are giving Gardiner **** for using his phone in the ******* pressbox when clearly the team was out of gas. Can't find something to rant about? Let's place the blame on a guy who wasn't even on the ice at the time. Seriously, some of you people are unbelievable.

OT: We were due for a regulation loss. Take the positives, work on the negatives, and come out flying for the next one. No biggie. One less =/= end of the world. The overreactions, Jesus. :shakehead

This attitude right here everybody. The Leafs have been brilliant this season, one game is not going to change that.

If it were any other team than Washington, I'd might be a little concerned. The Caps are playing like they're the best team in the league right now.

Glad to see people are being level headed about this. I always expect a loss on a back to back. Thankfully there's only 1 more left next week but what I want to know is, how did the quebecois get away with 5 B2B's and Boston only 3! Leafs have had 9. They really got the worst of it in the east this year. Maybe our owners should schmooze with bettman like Jacobs does.

Wow, a few people have a Chicken Little mentality. The sky is not falling.

A team on a 14-1-5 run got it handed it to them by the hottest team in the NHL. And the former used their backup goalie. It happens.

It's one freaking game. Relax.:) We beat the Islanders tomorrow and people will still be taking their lawn chairs onto Bay St. to get a good spot for the parade.

I'm betting there is a fire lit under their ***** tomorrow.

Despite the team being a bit flat in the beginning, I think they were still in it mentally, until that dive, it opened the game up for Washington and took any wind in Leafs' sails. Some of the officiating was pretty brutal, and I usually try not to complain about the refs.

Every time they cam on the press box he is on his phone texting.

Well they only show the press box during stoppages of play, so it is normal he'd try to squeeze in some socializing at that point. His spare time while watchinga game coincides with the filler time in tv broadcasts.

Was it just me or did the not stop BS from Ray Ferraro bother anyone else?

He was at his irritating best last night. He made Healy and PJ Stock seem tolerable.
