Well when I was in highschool if you failed but your mark was over 40% but you were a good student and the teacher liked you they would boost your mark up to 50% to pass you.

Man your school is so slack

Wait, you just emailed your teachers saying I need this mark to get in so can you bump my mark? And they did it? That's ridiculous and I'm pretty sure illegal

It's not illegal . The mark is all in the teachers hands, they can give you whatever they think you deserve. And thankfully I got in contact with the nicest teacher in my school.

There was a scandal kind of involving this recently in the Toronto area.

People were taking night classes/summer school to raise their mark but they would bribe the teachers to give them a really high mark. Then with these higher marks that they didn't earn they were getting scholarships. So in the end they kind of ending up making money even after the bribing.

Or at least I think that's what happened. Didn't really follow the story that closely when it was happening.
