My conclusion comes from the fact that they are 15-1 after the trade deadline, after adding Claude Giroux and Ben Chiarot, which is, objectively, more than we added at the deadline... And they've done that without Aaron Eklblad, the best defenseman either team has to offer, who will be back in the playoffs.

Florida has the most points in the lead. They have a winning record against Toronto this season and both of their wins have comes with the rosters that will be going into the playoffs, rather than the pre-deadline rosters. They have the highest scoring team in the league. They have the higher scoring player (Huberdeau) of the two teams. They have the better goaltending (factoring in #1 and #2). They have the deeper core of forwards 1-12. When Ekblad comes back, it's probably a wash defensively.... How have they not shown to be better than Toronto over the course of the season? Objectively, I think that's exactly what they've done. Not my leaps and bounds, but they certainly have the edge.
Some pretty good points. I can see why you have come to your conclusion

If you think Nylander had a good game, and was “all over the place” in a good way, then we weren’t watching the same game. He got walked by on the first goal, backed off when any board battle was imminent, was a liability defensively, contributed little offensively even when playing with MM, and looked disinterested too often. Apparently I hold him up to a higher standard than you do.
He took a huge hit to get the puck out in his own end that lead directly to Holl's goal. He set up Matthews and Marner numerous times and could have had 3 or 4 assists.

Yes he got walked, but he is not a dman and getting walked happens every game to guys who actually play D.

In the playoffs they refer to that as being down 1 game in the series.
Pretty sure OT format in the playoffs is a little different. Can you confirm that for me? You used to argue that often when we would win in SO/3on3. Almost like your narrative changes based on which team won

2 big picture concerns.

Matthews shot had nothing on it (by his standards), clearly being affected by an injury.

PK has been awful lately, obviously the string of generating more short handed then we were giving up wasn’t going to continue but they’ve looked bad for a bit and are starting to get lit up now.

Glad to see Matty get back as he needs a few games to get back up to game speed again.
JT and Willy bad combo to have on ice together for OT .. doubt you'll see that again . bad coaching there .. JT can't handle speed of OT at 3on3 .. Willy decided to float/change whatever
Overall both teams really did not go at each other .. kinda looked like a tie game
Holl was Holl went Bobby Orr in his mind and got 1 which was nice but just horrible defense out there
Another strong game from Mik and Engval .. nice to see
Hope Muzzy gets in tonight otherwise he might not be ready for playoffs with conditioning .. dude needs to shed some weight and fast
Overall 1 point closer to clinching 2nd place and home ice for playoffs .. maybe another point tonight I hope

Florida is not going anywhere in playoffs .. team plays too loose and will get exposed in playoffs .. Caps/Bruins should have their way with them .. although they will take down Pens if that scenario occurs .. but either way they wont get through round 2 of Atlantic

The Leafs are 33-6 this year when they hold a lead. Some teams that are a part of that 33 number: Colorado, Tampa Bay, Boston, Carolina, Minnesota, Edmonton, St. Louis, LA, New York Rangers, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Washington, Dallas, Las Vegas - you know, literally every playoff team except for Calgary.
Not enough to say you hold a lead...seriously, playoff hockey is different. Shutting the other team down us zn art and skill combined. We scored enough to not blow many leads. That us not what happens in playoffs. You control games with your defence, forcheck and backcheck when you have a lead. If not you lose 8 7, 7 6 because teams in the playoffs do not give up like game 35 of the regular season.
