Domi on the first, Rielly on the second (Matty's man with the tip). We'll absolve Sammy for those two, but blame him for the third.

Fourth goal a nice play by the Jacket, but Brodie and Sammy could have played it better.

JT should only touch the puck on the PP when he is in the slot, and only to shoot.

Fifth Sammy has to stop.

Good pass by Matty and shot by Willy. Seems to have woken up the team.

Nice goal by Mitch - maybe fanned on the shot, but it went in.

Right under the crossbar! Screen by Bert.

Game plan for late - feed Matty! Great passes by Willy and Mitch.

Two marginal picks by Jackets in the last few seconds.

It's December on Thursday against CBJ though right? Has anyone ever been more entertained by a Thursday Leaf game in December then tonight? No, no you haven't.

Great fun, f*** off with the negatives, we can reserve critical for Saturday if necessary, tonight was an all-time feel good at the end, screw the OT loss.

5-0 in to the 3rd and get a point? Are you kidding me?

Do you think they'll bring him up without an injury? I mean, I'd like to think if it got really bad, at some point they'd break down, but I'm just not convinced of that.

No, and they probably shouldn't. Not a guess on skill, just lets keep career progression normal. The guy was a pro rookie in Sweden last year, it's not NHL time yet.

this team always finds way to taint their important moments

Matthews scores 4 goals in his debut only to lose the game
Tavares scores his 1000th point against his former team only to lose the game
The Leafs come back from a 3rd period 5-0 deficit only to.. you get it... lose the game

It's always tainted

And get rid of this f*ucking goalie

He's just another in a long, long, long line of losing goalies that go all the way back to the Ed Belfour days

Leafiest game .. epic comeback only to lose in OT

Fun third, have to give them that. Keep getting points in the standings but holy hell this is some ugly hockey, ugliest in the Matthews' era TBH.

It's really unreasonable to expect a team to be competitive with Samsonov behind them
this is what i never understood

you can have the greatest roster in the NHL but if this guy is in net, there's no winning anything.

It's staring at everyone directly in the face. If this guy is the goalie, then the team cannot win anything, regardless of who's on the roster. You can assemble the greatest roster of all time but if this guy is between the pipes it's all for nothing. No one is winning anything with goalies like this.

A goalie is the foundation and if it's broken, then the house falls. Period.

This experiment is over. He isn't the guy. Just like what, all 20 goalies before him? Move on, it's just another fail. First move is to get him out of here and put in someone competent enough to at least strengthen the foundation.

They properly hedged on Sammy though right? We can't say any wrong moves, macro, were made there.

Sammy down the stretch last year was our god. He's got some runway still. Getting shorter.

That all said one adjustment I've noticed is Nylander at the point 6 on 5 .. which I'm a really big fan of. He has such a strong combination of shot, playmaking, and puck movement that giving him the middle of the ice up high makes it really tough for the opposition to defend. He has the skill to elude a defender if they're too aggressive, like tonight where he found Matthews. And he can get it on net like we saw against the Islanders.

One of the issues in the past was that the Leafs would pin themselves down on the half walls which cuts down on how they can use their skill in open ice.

Leafs are now tied for second in the division with 2 games in hand on Florida, and 4 points back of Boston .... despite having 7 less regulation wins than both

There are no words.
Zero points for style; all of the points for simply getting it done!

Over the past few years this has been the best come-from-behind Leafs teams I've ever seen.

Feels like so many pulled goalie goals.

Obviously a disappointing end, but the comeback was fun as f***. This team is battling through a lot of injuries, a flu going around, and Sammy, can’t be too mad IMO.

It’s the most patchy, resilient, adversity ridden, injury plagued teams that ride the playoffs…

Every year we coast into the playoffs we don’t do as well.

Tampa coasted and got swept , Boston coasted and got ousted by Florida.

Just some anecdotes from all this.

There was a few years where we could never win any games from behind or if the pressure is on.

This years leafs thrives on it it seems.

Shut the game off @ 5-0, only to be shocked watching the highlights later on.

I am a Hawks fan and had an eerie feeling of Deja Vu to the 2010 Hawks giving up 5 to the Flames only to crawl back and tie it in the third and win it in overtime. That team went on to win the Stanley Cup. (It's first in 50 years)

just sayin:sarcasm:

Epic comeback. OT loss sucks, but it should still be major confidence boost.

The team just learned they can come back from 5:0 . Well played

Reaves is the worst hockey player ever.

Either that or it's another Leafs attempt to circumvent the cap. He's gonna be LTIR'd now too. This isn't a blessing in diguise.

It's an obvious blessing if you ask me.

There's mayhem. Then there's self-inflicted mayhem. The Leafs defense is the latter.

The goaltending is even worse.

Samsonov stinks worse than the green fuzzy stuff growing in my belly button. I'd like to hide him in a dark hole too. Put him away and forget about him.

Like my kids plan on doing to me.

No lead is safe with this team. But, as we saw tonight, no lead is from this team either. The result of a bad coach playing a bad system.

On a team with bad players.

Sievsanov has always been and still is a backup goalie. He got the number one starter position by default.

We have to make a change

Yeah, it's really looking like WYSIWYG with Sammy this season. Our entire season could be resting on the performance(s) of Martin Jones. :eek3:

Obviously depending on how long Woll is out for. Personally, I think they can weather this out for ~5 weeks and not lose too, too much ground (if any). You have to figure though that the odds have to start turning against us a little more.

Do you think they'll bring him up without an injury? I mean, I'd like to think if it got really bad, at some point they'd break down, but I'm just not convinced of that.
As long as we keep getting points but 2 or 3 losses with bad goaltending, then they will bring up Hildeby.
