classic leaf collapse, only they didnt wait for the 3rd period this time.
Cant be using the fact that we were on the back end of back to back games as an excuse. Every team will be dealing with this numerous times this season. Good teams find ways to win.

Scrivens will bounce back. Crazy how quickly people turned on him

To those wanting Kotska off the PP:
I think he's great in that mid point spot. Shows great poise and patience with the puck. You dont shoot from there unless youre absolutely sure its getting through. If he doesnt have the shot he's got Kessel on one side and Phaneuf on the other, either one is not a bad shooting option

dont know why people were expecting anything other than mediocrity from the boys in blue this year

go leafs go

The biggest reason why we haven't been in a the playoffs is because of the month long slumps we've had at starts, ends of middle of seasons. We didn't know when it would happen exactly, but we had a feeling it was just a matter of time. I don't necessarily get the same impression atm. As long as they can avoid week(s) of crappy player, they should be fine.
the reason we haven't been in the playoffs is that we lose too many games.

and after each and every loss, the same fans pretend its basically a fluke and won't matter in the end.

When the team's slumping, everyone knows it. There aren't really that many fans who are pretending that it's not happening. Unless the team starts slumping now, and reverts back to its old ways, this loss can be written off as a 3 games in 4 nights thing.

See, the difference is... when the Leafs play 3 solid games like they've done to start the season (not just outscoring their problems like they have in the past, but truly solid games), then they follow it up with a single awful game, the same crew of "realists" start posting in masses. I do wish there was a separate "realist" sub-forum or something, so we wouldn't have to put up with this kind of drivel (this bloated thread, not necessarily your post).

we should have claimed Grabner but Burke is a giant ******...He seems to be playing great for the Isles, imagine a Grabner-Bozak-Kessel line

your use of the term "slumping" indicates the leafs are actually better than they show, but somehow get caught in "slumps".

we've been slumping for 8 years. its not like there's nitpicking going on after each sporadic loss. the teams loses a lot, loses way too often, and that's why fans who are realistic get upset.

any negative "drivel" around here simply reflects what's happening on the ice the past 8 years.

The only other guy who could be in discussion was Toskala, maybe people tend to defend Gustavsson because he was a feel good story or something, but he was brutal here. Every goalie we've had has been brutal post lockout, but those two were a special kind of bad.

Tonight's game will be a good test to see which team we have, as its a great bounce back opportunity to show this game was the exception/anomaly and not the expected norm.

PS: Also HF does have a fantasy sub-forum for "optimists" to post their thoughts unopposed, while the team sites are usually used to discuss the real events as they occur. ;)

not accepting it. joining the real world and admitting when the team is bad.

I think most realize they aren't very good, some see(hope) that they are on the right track while others hope they're not.

Once everyone accepts your outlook and joins "the real world" what happens?

Grabner was 6th in scoring on the Isles last season with a -18. He is invisible against decent clubs and hits about as rarely as Kessel. Nothing there to build a winner with.

There are a whole bunch of Leafs that haven't started to produce yet. Maybe when they do, the club can survive some soft goaltending against a weak club.

i don't think most do. many seem to truly believe this team has simply been unlucky for years.

i suppose we'd finally stop hearing the excuses and the nonsense with people pretending the team is better than it actually is.

why are you a leafs fan? do you even care if they win or lose?
