The 2-1 and 3-1 goals were bad. Stoppable. Should never go in.

And the 1-0 goal was really poor positioning. He completely lost the presence of the net and left the middle wide open.

He really struggled to keep up with the pace of the game early.

That period might be the worst I've seen from him all season. He just struggled at everything.

Extremely small sample size, but ever since the ROR trade. Our two losses both came from teams who had someone going SuperNova on us in the 1st period in Kane and McD. Solution, either AM, MM and Willie doing the same like what MM did against the Sabres or ROR needs to contain the other team best line early and contain them.

The secret sauce might be to make sure the Shit/60 is as low as possible.

Leafs looked slow against Edmonton in every zone.

Leafs D couldn't make a pass to save their life.

Nurse turns into Niedermayer when he plays us.

Ekholm is the much better d-man compared to McCabe.

We're going to miss Sandin, that was a dumb dumping of a home-grown guy forced by the cap.

McDavid and Draisatl outplayed our stars by a mile.

Samsonov needs to get rid of the trampolines under his skates.

Ekholm is a better Dman and also makes 50% more than McCabe, 3 times if you count the retention.

Did the SN panel even watch the game? They are saying Holl was good tonight.

TSN isn't a ton better but I think they at least watch the game
that's Dubie getting them to pimp his boy since he's going no where , they also do the nightly mandatory 30 sec highlight clip pimping Johnny even though he's doing nothing

It was an overall lack of opportunity IMO.

He was clearly already pissed about Gio coming in, the mini contract standoff demonstrated it as much, well they just did it again by adding McCabe...

This whole year will be determined by what happens in the first round. If you don’t get that, there’s nothing to talk about.

It’s a regular season game on the road after a bunch of guys have had 1 practice. Not even playing with right lines and D partners.

Just asking for a bit of hockey IQ here.
No wrong points made, but even with all that, you really think that’s the best they could do?

I’d understand a bit at least had they lost a 3-1 game, however not only was it 5-2, but it should have and could have been much worse were it not for Samsonov. At some point in this game, you had to either go for it completely and attempt a comeback, or try to turtle and just stop bleeding chances. We did neither of that

What if they play like this after every time you give them an extra day off?

They already get normal days off. This was the coach doing them a favour.
You’re naive if you think this is a rare occurrence or exclusive to the Leafs.
It’s totally meaningless but you’re certainly free to feel it’s important

If they played everytime like this then we’d be in the running for bedard, not a playoff spot

I want to see way way different lines because this is not about partying, being tired, blah blah blah...This is just horrible knowledge of what he has...If he keeps going with this because he truly believes in these lines(like he believes in Holl), this team is done(which i guess is good in a way because Keefe and maybe even Dubas are done too).

Most of the trouble is in the top 2 lines...

Perhaps doing...

JT........Matthews.........Nylander
Kerf/Bunt....O'Reilly....Marner

Kerfoot did a decent job with JT and Marner before O'Reilly came plus he adds speed and some playmaking ability. If Bunting cannot do his main job of winning board battles(and he's certainly not that good at making plays either), then why not try something else?

No idea what to do about that D because it's awful right now(especially with Holl on the first unit).

Justin Holl over 20 minutes tonight. Liljegren 12:58.

Tell me again who Keefes scratching again when the time comes.
Keefe needs to figure his shit out if he thinks that's the way to go.

I know Lilly was hurt and missed a bit of time tonight but that's ridiculous.

I did wonder what might happen when so many players come and go.

It might take at least a week to get things in order.

The big 5 better bring it though

I can keep going:

Tavares $11 mil... Ok

Nylander was lamenting the departure of his Sweede buddies way too hard last night

ROR is one step and a half second away from David Clarkson status, I hope he can pull it together for a few more months

Luke Schenn is going to look like hes frozen in place on the defensive blue line. He has no hope in hell of making 80 foot stretch passes.

Acciari has been alright for his role. Him and the other new banger are still pretty soft though.

This team misses Hyman, a lot.

The team came out flat and got overwhelmed by Edmonton's big guns.

We'll see if they can respond tomorrow. It's going to be tougher in a back to back.
