Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose 4-2

You my friend were not alone……
I have been wanting to stand pat at the deadline since 2020. Even our terrible free agent signings lead towards the erasure of prospects - see Patrick Marleau. Bringing in career losers like Marleau and Thornton certainly help build the mentality of this team.

Somebody mentioned it before, but our Pro Scouting department needs to be scrubbed. As if the Hakanpaa debacle wasn't bad enough, we are now saddled with scrubs like Scott Rotten and Brandon Barflo for the foreseeable future.

Chief we aint got our own 1st until 2028 (dont worry that one will probably get traded next deadline or the one after that). We aint tankin anytime soon. This franchise completely lacks vision and a direction. They tanked for the high picks and thought it would lead to automatic success. Theyve just been spinning their wheels ever since. What a fraud Shanny is. I'm thankful he convinced ownership to finally tank and rebuild but my god he has had no idea what to do after that.

Shanny should go home to Detroit or New York where he belongs. Dude only sees the Leafs as a means to end. Like Chelios said, he is a politician. Since Shanny arrived here we have become nothing but doormats.

Never understood this argument. MLSE clearly want to win and have tried different tactics to find the right combination, it just hasn't worked. Even when there was no cap, they consistently had one of the highest payrolls (I think only the Rangers spent more). MLSE might be doing it wrong (or not, who knows) but that doesn't mean they should be punished. If they were cheapskates, I'd agree. They aren't, they're trying.
Well they can start by lowering the cost of seats so there'll be more blue color fans at the Scotia bank funeral home fcol.

Carhartt’s used to be tough wearing work wear, now it’s fashionable junk……..

TBH, it's never been good quality (at least in my experience from using it for work in forestry over 30 years ago), but the brand was associated with "the working man".

I don't get how some people get worked up about this place. I personally don't care if anyone is overly positive, overly negative or in the middle. As long as people are respectful, I don't care. It's their view or opinion. Let them have it.

This team hasn't won anything since 1967 so I get why some are overly negative or overly positive.

Bottom line is we all want to see this team win at least one effing Cup. That we can ALL agree on.

I bet you if we were all sitting at a pub, rather than typing messages online, that we would all get along much better.

This is a place to vent, inform, talk or just hang out. People shouldn't get worked up about it.

Just have fun.

I remember back in the old ESPN messageboard days when people would be challenging each other to fist fights online. lmao

Full NMC though - he doesn't need to move anywhere. He's already establishing a family in TO.

We're stuck with him dude.
I disagree. And I'm aware of the NMC. I think Rielly would agree to a move somewhere on the west coast. He just doesn't strike me as the dig in type of guy. I'm not fussed about the return, I'd throw that 7.5m+ savings at Chychrun.

Shanny will be gunning for Bettmans job, leafs were the stepping stones

Agreed, I've never found the brand to be reliable. I like Black Diamond mitts for skiing or cross country, but for hunting nothing tends to beat a thin glove with a muff (and for extra cold days I'll drop a couple of hand warmers into the muff).

back in the day it was good stuff, it'd take weeks to break in a pair over overalls, and if you worked in forestry you should have been wearing pants with built in chaps imo...........

He wouldn’t have to dig in, he’d just tell them that he and his wife are happy where they are.

Very true. We’re probably another 3-4 games like last night away from having a serious conversation about that. Could you imagine the chaos within the org if they don’t even make it 😂 I kind of wish it happened so this management group could actually make big changes to the core group
that won't be good for jersey sales, I bet they sell a lot of jerseys at playoff games..........

I worked over thirty years in Helicopter Logging throughout British Columbia and into the United States.

Bucking pants were mandatory and were really hot working in the BC heat.

Nah, nobody wears built in chaps, at least not in the summer. When all you're doing is spraying chemicals on plants, you don't want the extra heat of chaps wearing you down. I only wore chaps when running a chain saw. I had a separate pair of chaps for that. At any rate, I bought 3 pairs of Carhartts work jeans for ~$60 and they didn't even last as long as Dickies for half the price. The Carhartts looked the best though, I'll give them that.

The Leafs are 27th in xGF% since December 1st, that's over 40 games of being a bottom tier team. Just for comparison, Florida is first in the NHL during that timeframe

Say what you want about the roster, it should never be a bottom 5-6 team in terms of chance generation. The coaching has been horrific and an awful fit for this team.

We've been skating by on elite goaltending for a while. Now that it's come down to earth we're being exposed for what we really are. A bad team
They were dead set on hiring Berube rather than a coach that could actually compliment the roster. Looking rough so far.

I cant speak for heli logging but in silviculture and high lead logging, nobody ever had to wear bucking pants in BC.

I spent some time as a forester for Ontario Hydro, tough job that had lots of down sides, dragging brush was awful but stump spraying with a back back full of Garland had to be the worse, that shit dripping down your backside all day made me move to the Lines Department as soon as I possibly could...........

I think they call Garland something different now (release?). Yeah, I had the same experience with that crap dripping out of the spray pack all over my back. Probably why I got thyroid cancer...lol

It's a clear example of how their indecision has led to the team declining

On the one hand, Leafs management want us to play a style similar to Florida which is based on a heavy dump and chase + strong forecheck. On the other hand, they want to keep the core 4 under all circumstances and keep running it back.

The two of these things don't work together. The core 4 struggle in a forechecking system and you're basically wasting their talent.

If we want to give us a timeline comparable to the Capitals - we're in our Dale Hunter era. The philosophy doesn't make sense given the players and you need to decide if you keep the players or the style
