Pretty clear to me who the starting goalie is on this team
Me too but Joe can't play 70, and you don't want to alienate Sammy by stapling his arse to the bench.

Nashville isn't a high scoring team that generates a lot of high quality chances, so better to give Sammy the start, give Joe a night off, and give Sammy the chance to maybe get a W and stop some pucks in the process. He got the point against Saros who is Nashvilles best chance to win. I'd say it worked out pretty good!

Ps. My post that you quoted above was mocking a whole bunch of the hot takes I've been reading over the past few days, I guess I really do need to use that sarcasm emoji. Sigh

I know it's early but if Boston is going to run away with the division again then you want them to win against team's we are battling for top 3. Not thinking with heart but just logically. If Boston is that good again

Boston played vs
Chicago x2
Nashville
San jose
Lak
Anaheim x2
Detroit

We can calm down, maybe only 1 team of those club boston played will be playoff team.

Next 5 game vs florida, toronto, detroit, dallas and NYI.. we will have a better idea of boston

ROR didn’t fit here because he wasn’t good in our top six. His lack of speed is worse then Tavares.

I’m glad he left. Nylander and Holl showed more grit in playoffs then ROR

Why do we all crave over age players that we think can play like they did several yrs ago?

He is happy and his family is happy…we should really again stop believing the narrative the mediots in TO spew.

We got a point in a game we should of won.

I’m more concerned with wasted cap dollars we wasted on Burt, Domi and Reeves. They haven’t made their lines better. Actually Burt is a good fit on the second line but he isn’t the driver of that line.

I thought the third line with Domi was really good last night.

Created a tonne of chances and sustained pressure most of the night.

5 points in 8 games is right where I would expect him to be.

Bert will come around. He looks more comfortable every night. Only a matter of time.

Agreed.

But at the same time I don't feel like blaming them for the easy schedule.
It definitely helped them, Poitras making his debut and Zacha playing on C both benefited greatly.
At the same time it happens every year due to clash with other sports. They are paying for it with a tough schedule to end the year. Overall this might be detrimental to their SC ambitions.

In this market, we hate and shit on them while they're here, but we miss and long for them when they're gone. We're truly a strange bunch.

Im not blaming anyone, just saying to relax. They find a way to win everyone game they had to win and thats great for Bosto ... but if they drop exemple 3 or4 of next 5 game... against better opponent, its not the same thing at all

saw this on twitter reminded me of Keefe being the head coach

I still can't believe that play Matthews made in the 3rd when he was basically in all alone and made a bad drop pass that killed the whole sequence.

I said it in the game thread but I really think Matthews is consciously trying to even out his goal/assist ratio, I don't think he likes being seen as an unremarkable passer relative to some other superstar centres. But he just needs to shoot in that scenario, it hurt the team. He's been great this year but I didn't love his game last night, smarten up.

You knew Ryan O'Reilly was going to have a game against our Leafs in a revenge match.

Wish we could have kept him.
I wish he had played as good for us as he seems to be doing for them . An awful trade deadline deal

We played Chicago……how did that work out for us

Ranty rant time for no good reason other than to get it out…. Lollllll..

A compleeetely winnable game. Shots, high danger, breakaways. I get Saros was good, but the Leafs made his posts and crossbars and crest level saves even better.

Winnable in that sense, yes - and I get that its a long trip and they were shorthanded on D again, annddd that they’ve secured 7 out out of 10 points here, so cry me a river - but that last minute in regulation ragging the puck in our own end was just sadly pedestrian and had “just happy to make it to OT” written all over it. Sure enough, when we got to OT, only 1 guy touched it and the Preds dominated until they finally scored. And all that on a sensitive goalie that you probably should have been trying to prevent that from happening to.

The PTSD of this core never having a killer instinct between their terrible OTs, game 7s and playoff rounds in general, might be to blame - but just not a good look early in yet another year where they can’t seem to ever hit that extra gear. Instead of the completely winnable being won, the best team found a way to slink out of the fight again.

Thats changing nothing i just say Boston played pratically only bottom team...

We still can say boston run away with division because they won against weak team... thats it

I don't think he looks the same since the 3rd game where he took a big hit from behind. Really hope he's not hurt again

I wish ROR had stayed. Him and Schenn took Leafs to the second round. Without them, we would be at the top of all NHL anti-records. And the best part, the core wouldn’t give a shit, especially Marner.

I still don't get why we let them go. They would have been my priorities if it was me making the decisions.

I haven’t seen him take a dangerous shot from distance in a year. It used to be that he was automatic from the slot and a a 50/50 threat from further out, now it seems like he’s a 50/50 threat from the slot but focuses most of his efforts on scramble plays 3 feet from the net.

When’s the last time you saw this shot from the circles or further with the goalie set up and tracking it but unable to do anything about it?

Both his hat tricks and the vast majority of his 40 goals last year are from the slot or closer, his threat from distance doesn’t really exist anymore the way it used to.

It’s cool that he’s been able to compensate by becoming more complete offensively with a power game in front of the net and more playmaking but it hurts us that Nylander is really the only remaining threat that can hurt you from anywhere on the ice. Tavares, Marner, Matthews, Bertuzzi, and whoever the 1/2LW of the week is all need to be in tight to be dangerous, our two offensive D need to pinch in deep for their shots to be dangerous.
