The Leafs are currently missing 3 regulars up front going forward. When they return, it pushes other players down the lineup into their more natural matchups. They are fine.

Simmonds yes, not sold on Jumbo but Robertson could help. I am waiting for this so called trade for a top 6 forward to happen as well.

leafs need Austin Watson badly big dude who hits everything and brings energy engvall for watson

You are right about Watson although he has issues, but you are not getting him for Engvall. Engvall gets you nothing other than another scrub or a late draft pick. If you want an impact player it is going to cost you.

I thought this guy willed the Habs to a win in the 3rd period last night. We could use one to play with JT.

Meh, sure it sucks to lose that one, because that was a chance to bury Montreal, but the fact is the next 3 are against Ottawa they should win all 3 of this and if they do they will be 9 points up on Montreal and Montreal will be buried regardless

Montreal Canadiens First Star:
- The Ref in the Leafs' zone, who somehow managed to ignore a blatant trip on Brodie and THEN insert himself as a 6th man for the Montreal forechecker to get the puck to Gallahger for his goal. Way to manage the game, dumbass!
- Honorable Mention: The Linesmen, for also repeatedly running interference for Montreal AND for repeatedly forgetting what "icing" is.

Blaming the game on penalties you feel weren’t called when your own team got none is a bit rich.

Fun game. 1 PP at home. Gotta love it.

Not much you can do when everything is let go and it only helps the weaker less talented team.

Shake it off boys, they'll win those more often than not. On to the next one.

No penalties called against the leafs. What’s to complain about?

First regulation loss in a month and we've got a posters saying "This team is trash" in the GDT every single game. Just turn off your tv, this sport isnt for you.
Yeah that’s frustrating to read. That was our worst game of the season the way nothing clicked. The defensive was really good until a couple breakdowns that burned us. Team defense was good. I though so anyways

But they are the Sens, you know those games are their Stanley Cup game 7s. I wouldn't be holding my breath expecting all 6 pts.

As much as some fans want to deny it, AJ and Kappy were big losses. It says a lot when Spezza is your best bottom 6 forward.

There is something to be said about our forward depth. Injuries to Simmonds and Thornton have made us painfully aware of what Petan, Kerfoot, Engvall, and Vesey can be for this team. Toronto will most definitely be shopping for the playoffs, and Dubas is going to have to be really creative here.

Didn’t we get outhit by 40 in this game or something stupid?
Thats what happened because we had really good puck possession . They were chasing and hitting lots trying to get the puck. We don’t hit enough ever Muzzy nailed Anderson a couple times and got right under his skin. Matthews wants a shot at Chiarot every opportunity now lol. Most of the habs hit were in the first two periods. They owned the puck more in the third and i think the hits levelled out in that period. Seemed like it. Maybe someone will follow up on this post. I don’t chase all the intricate stats

What was said about Sandin during the 2nd intermission? Apparently they talked about him in their headlines segment or whatever it's called

They said Sandin has only played about 5 minutes of hockey in the last Calendar year, and that he and Robertson have been loaned to the Marlies and that his progress will be monitored.

I don't because I expect Hutchinson to play one and don't trust him to win but even 4 of 6 puts them 7 up on Montreal even that pretty much buries them

It was more about the math and defense upgrades. Matthews has more goals than all of Montreal’s centers combined. :) But apparently i can draw pogey right now lol

Trash is a bit much but this team has holes. You will get by with this bunch in the regular season but if Matty and Mitch are shutdown in the playoffs, it is going to be "another goalie that went into god mode against us" when it plain to see that this team does not have enough up front to play with the top teams.

Sorry I am not reserving my spot on the parade route after we beat the Sens this week.
1. If the argument was that this was a playoff like game because of the physicality and based off of that, the leafs won't be successful in the playoffs because Montreal shut down Marner and Matthews.. they didn't. Marner and Matthews were buzzing.
2. Between Nylander and Tavares plus the guys who are injured we have plenty of secondary scoring. We're missing a top 6 F, the F who was always going to be the primary scorer on the 3rd line, and Robertson who it seems will bring a lot of offense to this team.

There's no shutting down Mitch and Matty, and even if there was, secondary scoring will be a non issue once we get healthy. This team is above average defensively. We have a top 10 starter in the league and probably a top 5 back up. Where are the holes?

The Habs fans were ready to drive Carey Price out of Montreal with pitchforks not 24 hours ago but if it wasn't for him it's 3-0 after the 1st.

I've always liked Price, contract or not he seems like a good dude and has personality.

We weren't gonna keep winning forever, on to three in a row vs Ottawa, I'd consider anything less than four points a disappointment.
