Sandin is actually nutty. If he was an above average skate in terms of speed he'd be easy top pairing material. Hell he might be anyways.

quite a few players make it work as top pairing defensemen with his level of skating or worse. I definitely wouldn't bet against him

I have always thought he was a Crosby-lite type player. Minus some of the speed of Sid. But works hard, grinds, has great hands, good IQ and a good shot. If he had a little more speed I think he would have come closer to Sid's career. Not as good, but very close.

And the end result of all of that is a guy who's been on pace for between 70-75 points the last 3 seasons, not ideal for 11 mil and not underrated.
