With HellBuck I don't think the Jets have a big need for Comrie. They need a LHD. So the trade looks good for them.

And you're a Leafs fan, so you like the trade. So as a fan of neither team, it looks fine to me.

Leafs Trade - Gardiner + Kapenen + prospect/pick

Jets Trade - Myers + Comrie

Have at it

Myers is a mess right now with hip issues and poor play. While Comrie might be a nice prospect -- goalie prospects are not hard to come by.

No thanks, Comrie and Helle with be pushing each other for starting time in goal in Winnipeg as Jets within a year or two. No need to move Comrie (nor Myers) at present.

Pass.

The Jets don't need to trade a goalie prospect for a forward prospect, so take those out. Something around Myers and Gardiner is perfectly reasonable. Of course, it wouldn't happen until after the season starts and Myers shows (hopefully) that he fully recovered from off-season surgeries.

I would do Gardiner for Myers, hockey trade.

No interest in the OP offer.

Easy pass from this Leafs fan. I wouldn't trade Gardiner for Myers straight up...and as much as i like Comrie, i don't do the deal.

As a Leafs fan I think this would work out great for both teams...I'm also impressed this hasn't turned into a ***** show like most Leaf trade proposals :handclap:

Likely b/c thread isn't about either Reilly or Trouba.

Gardiner and Myers are both 2nd pairing dman nothing more less and never we be. Purely a hockey trade.

Why is Kapanen involved in every TOR proposal all of a sudden?

My take on it is that he's skilled enough to have value on the trade market, but with the amount of highly touted forward prospects, we could use him to fill a need and not have it sting so much.

I feel the exact opposite as this as a Leafs fan, so maybe the proposal is fair.

I have no interest in swapping Gardiner for Myers, but would definitely swap Kapanen for Comrie. We have a clear lack of quality goalie prospects, and swapping one of our forward prospects for one would be a good move.

But obviously forward prospects aren't a need for the Jets, so I would chalk this up to; value is relatively fair, but doesn't make sense for both teams.

RE: Kapanen, has value and he'd be available to fill a need. We have a lot of talented forward prospects so he's being offered up as a guy who has the most value but I think in typical HF fashion people are thinking there is something wrong with him or something. He's a good prospect and he's not being given away but rather Leaf fans are trying to offer up a prospect of value.

In terms of the trade itself, the Leafs pass, Gardiner can't be moved until we have a replacement for the left side on the 2nd pairing.

The Leafs don't have many good prospects that their fans would like to see traded, I guess. I don't think he'd be all that interesting to the Jets, though. They have a ton of good forward prospects.

Myers is a mess right now with hip issues and poor play.

Ah, the “I don’t know anything about the guy so I’ll just make stuff up†approach. Myers has always been a good offensive defence man who doesn’t really drive puck possession and that’s exactly what he was last year. If anything his puck possession numbers were better last year then they have been for a while.

He is getting 2 surgeries in the off season, one for a hip problem that he’s been playing though for a few years and one for a knee issue he played though for most of the season last year. Both have high recovery rates, but there is a complication in that he needed one done and fully rehabbed in order to rehab the second. Since the one injury has bothered him for a couple years it’s possible he plays even better.

I just don't see the Jets moving any major pieces unless it's Myers for a top 4 LHD and he's got to recover from hip and knee surgery this summer before that can happen. The reality of our team right now is that we have a lot of prospects / bubble players that need time to improve and show they can make an impact at the NHL level. The only guys that might get dealt are depth pieces at this point that don't hold any real trade value.

Isn't it the same hip surgery Benn had right before his career year? IIRC it's minor, to remove bone spurs (very common), not like a hip replacement or anything. The knee surgery is likely the bigger deal, but of course that clueless post didn't mention that. Just a nonsense post.

By several you mean 2 right?

Don't we have like four goalie prospects, two of which are clear cut goalie blue chip prospects, and the other two are, as every other goalie prospects are, question marks?

We don't have a reason to trade Comrie for Kapanen, so they should be dropped out, as should the pick from Toronto. A Gardiner-Myers swap has been agreed before, but it won't happen before we see Myers on the ice.

Kudos on making a proposal that took some team needs into place, and wasn't trying to rip off the other team.

I think the value is fine here, close enough IMO for people not to get insulted, but I'm not sure if the Jets are in a position to deal Comrie. I think they see a nice timeline with which Hellebucyk takes the NHL reins this year, and Comrie get at least a year, maybe two in the AHL and then comes up to form a tandem for a few years.
